Nintendo responds after US government’s Pokopia post goes viral

The new game, Pokopia, has quickly become a sensation, inspiring memes from fans and even the White House, who created their own designs using the game’s logo. Nintendo has now acknowledged the White House’s participation in the online trend.

After Pokopia launched, fans immediately started creating their own artwork inspired by its unique look and feel. They used the game’s style – including its images, fonts, and logo – to share messages and designs celebrating the release.

Once the trend started gaining popularity online, the White House participated by using the Pokopia design with the slogan ‘Make America Great Again.’ This prompted an official response from The Pokemon Company.

According to a report by Time, The Pokémon Company has acknowledged seeing online content featuring its branding. Company spokesperson Sravanthi Dev stated they are aware of the images circulating online.

They clarified that they had no part in making or sharing the content, and did not authorize anyone to use their creative work. They emphasized that their goal is to connect people globally, and they remain neutral and independent from any political stance or cause.

This isn’t the first time Pokémon has responded to something like this. In September 2025, the Department of Homeland Security used Pokémon footage and the phrase “Gotta catch ’em all” in a video showing ICE agents making arrests.
