The popular video game franchise is preparing for a special celebration of its 40th anniversary. Nintendo recently shared a trailer revealing a new LEGO set based on The Legend of Zelda, specifically recreating a memorable moment from Ocarina of Time.
LEGO has released several sets based on The Legend of Zelda series. The first was a 2-in-1 Deku Tree set, letting fans build the Great Deku Tree as it appears in both Breath of the Wild and Ocarina of Time. Nintendo also recently released a LEGO set featuring classic game cartridges and scenes from Super Mario Land and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Now, a new LEGO collaboration with Nintendo suggests we’ll soon see a set depicting the final battle between Link and Ganon from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Nintendo Teams Up With Lego For a New The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Release
Nintendo recently announced a partnership between The Legend of Zelda and LEGO, scheduled for release in 2026. They shared a trailer on X (formerly Twitter) featuring a stop-motion animation of Link from Ocarina of Time. The video includes a glimpse of Princess Zelda and plays Ganon’s theme music, building up to a shadowy recreation of the final battle between Link and Ganon atop Ganon’s Castle from the classic game.
A new LEGO set featuring Ganon and Link is planned for release around 2026. The promotional trailer concludes with the tagline “Build the Legend. Coming in 2026,” confirming the release year, though a specific date hasn’t been announced.
2026 will be a major year for The Legend of Zelda series, celebrating 40 years since the original game was released on the NES on February 21st. This new LEGO set based on Ocarina of Time is arriving alongside rumors of a Ocarina of Time remake for the Switch 2, but that remains fan speculation. Some fans are hoping this could lead to a LEGO Zelda video game, though there’s no evidence of that happening yet.
With the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda approaching, it’s no surprise Nintendo is planning several celebrations, starting with this new LEGO set announcement. And there’s plenty for Zelda fans right now: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment recently launched on the Switch 2, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is now available on the Switch 2 through Nintendo Online’s GameCube library.
