Nintendo may unexpectedly beat Sony. State of Play is not to be the only game show awaiting players in February

January 30

According to reports from NateTheHate2, the upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation will likely focus on games from developers other than Nintendo. This could finally give us a better look at The Duskbloods, the new game currently in development by FromSoftware.

January 26

Microsoft kicked off the year with a big game showcase in January. Now, it looks like Sony and Nintendo are planning their own events to share what they’ve been working on.

Nintendo Direct might take place in February

Most people expected PlayStation to do this, and industry expert NateTheHate2 has largely confirmed the rumors. He also shared information, based on his sources (see the video linked below), about a possible Nintendo presentation planned for February, which would be similar to Sony’s. NateTheHate2 even mentioned a specific date for the Nintendo event.

Rumors suggest a Nintendo Direct presentation will happen on Thursday, February 5th. Because it’s early in the month, it’s probably unlikely Sony will be able to schedule their presentation before Nintendo’s.

NateTheHate mentioned he’s still waiting for full confirmation and isn’t sure what kind of Nintendo Direct might happen, or what games will be featured.

I’m expecting a broad presentation from Nintendo that will kick off the year strongly. Hopefully, it will feature in-depth looks at new games developed by Nintendo themselves, planned for release in 2026, and give us details about how they’ll celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. But it’s also possible the event will focus on games made by other companies.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Direct in just 3 days

Shortly after Nintendo announced a special presentation called “Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Direct” – a Nintendo Direct focused solely on the game – content creator NateTheHate2 released his own videos about Nintendo and upcoming Switch 2 games. The presentation is scheduled for January 29th at 6:00 AM Pacific Time.

While that recent announcement was okay, I’m hoping there’s something much bigger coming to revitalize the gaming industry after the slow start to the year. Unfortunately, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream likely won’t be it. For now, it’s best to be skeptical of these rumors until we get an official confirmation.
