Today’s September Nintendo Direct unveiled numerous updates on forthcoming Switch 2 video games, and there was more to it than that. Amid the Super Mario Bros. Wonder segment where the Switch 2 version was disclosed, Nintendo also casually dropped an unexpected surprise: a product featuring a conversing flower, which will be available for purchase.
According to Super Mario Bros.’ magical flowers, their real-world counterparts could talk and share phrases such as, “We seem to resemble each other, don’t we?” During the Direct presentation, Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi conversed with one of these flowers. Unlike digital assistants like Amazon Alexa, these talking flowers can only speak and not interact beyond that. As Koizumi mentioned, these talking flowers could potentially add a touch of excitement to daily routines.

I’m thrilled to hear that my favorite talking flowers are going on sale in Spring 2026! The pricing details haven’t been revealed yet, but I can hardly wait. Plus, the Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Bellabel Park Meetup DLC will be launching for Switch 2 in the same season! What a fantastic year it promises to be!
The conversing blossom isn’t available for purchase just yet, however, you have an option to get another Nintendo plant – the Piranha Plant Camera for the upcoming Switch 2.
During the September Nintendo Direct presentation, some significant announcements were made. These included the reveal of the release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, news about Resident Evil ports being developed, a revival of the Virtual Boy system, and an exciting new product – a physical item priced at $100 related to the Virtual Boy. Additionally, it was announced that a series of new Nintendo Amiibo toys are in production, showcasing Nintendo’s continued interest in extending beyond video games into various other physical merchandise offerings.
