It’s been 13 years since the last solo Ninja Gaiden game featuring Ryu Hayabusa, but he’s back this week in Ninja Gaiden 4, alongside a new character named Yakumo. To celebrate the game’s release, Team Ninja’s Emmanuel Rodriguez and musician Swae Lee did something truly spectacular: they played Ninja Gaiden 4 on a giant screen suspended from a helicopter while flying over Miami!
As reported by Xbox Wire, this event broke the Guinness World Record for the biggest video game display ever flown with a helicopter. During the gameplay, with Rodriguez controlling the character Yakumo, Lee performed songs from his album, “Flammable.”
The stunt was inspired by the story of Ninja Gaiden 4, set in a dramatically expanded Tokyo. The game features towering skyscrapers, necessitated by the destruction of the lower city due to toxic flooding. While previous Ninja Gaiden games included aerial combat, this sequel is taking it to new heights.
Ninja Gaiden 4 arrives on October 21st for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5. The exact time it becomes available might vary based on your location. Players with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be able to play it right away on launch day. This new installment of the notoriously challenging series will offer more options for adjusting the difficulty to suit different players.
Tomonobu Itagaki, the creator of popular video games like Dead or Alive and the rebooted Ninja Gaiden series, recently died at 58 years old.
