At the 2025 Golden Globes, Nikki Glaser kicked off her first hosting gig with a comedic monologue aimed at Diddy, “Dune: Part Two,” and Timothée Chalamet, all while entertaining Hollywood’s elite.

She kicked off her speech by referring to the awards event as “Ozempic’s grandest evening,” and addressed those watching on Paramount+, saying, “There are only six days remaining if you wish to terminate your free subscription.

As a cinephile, I can’t help but express that it feels like I’ve truly arrived. You know, I find myself surrounded by esteemed producers in the grand ballroom of the Beverly Hilton hotel, and for once, there are no wardrobe malfunctions to worry about. It was all worth it!

As we look at some of the leading contenders, Glaser commented, “Tonight, we honor the finest in cinema and make room for television.” Referencing a popular meme from the “Wicked” press tour, he added, “The films ‘Wicked,’ ‘Queer,’ ‘Nightbitch’… these are not just exclamations Ben Affleck makes following an exciting moment, they represent some of the outstanding movies that have been nominated tonight.

Glaser went on to say, ” ‘The Bear,’ ‘The Penguin,’ ‘Baby Reindeer’ – these aren’t items from RFK’s freezer; they represent TV series up for awards tonight.

The host highlighted the “most diligent performers in the entertainment industry,” specifically referring to the waitstaff, who were serving the celebrities their “drinks” and presenting them with their food.

Glaser commended Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel by expressing admiration towards Zendaya: “Your performance in ‘Dune’ was amazing, really. I couldn’t wait for every one of your scenes!” Regarding Zendaya’s upcoming film “Challengers” in 2024, he commented: “That movie had a level of sexual tension that rivals Diddy’s credit card limit!

Regarding the music industry figure under scrutiny for rape and trafficking allegations, Glaser expressed sympathy, sharing his own disappointment. He remarked that this year’s after-party may not be as exciting, but emphasized the need to progress. In a lighter note, he joked that “Stanley Tucci freak-off” doesn’t quite carry the same energy.

Switching to the “Conclave” actor making a playful grimace, Glaser remarked, “This year, it’s all about olive oil instead of baby oil.

Before commending his portrayal in “A Complete Unknown,” Glaser made a comment about Timothée Chalamet’s facial hair, noting, “Your upper lip has the most captivating eyelashes.

Proceeding to discuss one of the evening’s most significant films, Glaser commented, “It’s impossible to ignore ‘Wicked’ among tonight’s movies as I hadn’t been familiar with it previously due to my high school connections.”

During our conversation about tonight’s major films, Glaser remarked, “I must admit that I wasn’t well-versed in ‘Wicked’ prior to this year, seeing as I had friends at high school.

I, too, have a soft spot for the musical ‘Wicked’. My partner and even my partner’s partner share this affection – they truly adore it.

Glaser, confirmed as the host back in August, is recognized primarily for her witty roasting skills; she reigned supreme at Netflix’s “The Roast of Tom Brady” in 2024. At the upcoming Globes, she will be stepping into Jo Koy’s shoes, who presided over the ceremony in 2024 with a monologue that received unfavorable reviews due to its humor about weight-loss drug Ozempic and Barry Keoghan’s personal matters.

Prior to her hosting gig, Glaser hinted to EbMaster that she would be aiming at celebrities in the audience who are self-deprecating. “If I can get that person to chuckle,” Glaser explained, “it signals to the audience, ‘It’s okay to laugh.’ Laughing at a joke about oneself makes you appear friendly, cool, and approachable. My goal is to make you more relatable, so you won’t have to navigate the tricky game of Hip-Hop Hopscotch with Jimmy Fallon to come across as down-to-earth.

Besides being the host of the Globes, Glaser has also been nominated for the Best Performance in a Stand-up Comedy Special on Television, for her HBO production titled “Someday You’ll Die.

EbMaster’s parent company, PMC, is co-owning Dick Clark Productions, the company that produces the Golden Globes, in partnership with Eldridge.
