Nicholas Hoult has subtly indicated that filming will start sooner than fans anticipated.
In an interview with Variety, Nicholas Hoult revealed that filming for Man of Tomorrow will start in April. He also shared that while he can’t disclose many details, the project is “awesome.” A short clip of the interview is available below for those interested.
Nicholas Hoult made his first major film appearance as Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s Superman, which also introduced fresh takes on beloved DC characters. Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo is Jimmy Olsen, and Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. Alcock is set to headline her own Supergirl movie next year.
When Superman came out in July, it was a huge success at the box office, earning $616.7 million on a budget of just $225 million. Both critics and audiences loved the film. Currently, it has an 83% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on almost 500 reviews from critics. Viewers also give it a high score, with a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ “Popcornmeter” based on over 25,000 fan reviews.
The movie Superman introduced many new superpowered characters to the DC Universe, including Green Lantern (played by Nathan Fillion) and Metamorpho (played by Anthony Carrigan). However, James Gunn, who wrote, directed, and co-leads DC Studios, quickly dismissed rumors about which characters might be in the next film, responding with a straightforward “Nope.”

John Cena plays a flawed hero who was unexpectedly sent to a strange alternate dimension called Salvation. He was the first person used in a large-scale experiment to transform this dimension into a prison for super-powered individuals. While the project leader, Flag Sr., primarily did this to get revenge on Peacemaker for killing his son in The Suicide Squad, it also creates a potential path for a live-action version of the popular DC Comics series, Salvation Run.
If Grillo’s character, Flag Sr., plays a significant role in the upcoming Man of Tomorrow movie and continues to use the Salvation dimension as a prison for superpowered beings, he might become an enemy of Superman. This possibility, along with the potential release of many other heroes and villains held within Salvation, is driving a lot of online discussion about the film’s plot.
Man of Tomorrow is currently slated to soar into theaters on Jul. 9, 2027.
