Mass Effect is now a beloved classic with a huge global fanbase. Even though a new main game hasn’t been released in some time, fans continue to show their dedication through art, costumes, and other tributes.
I was checking out the Fall Damage YouTube channel, and Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer – you know, the voices of Commander Shepard – were talking about what’s next for the Mass Effect series. And honestly? It sounds really promising! They dropped some hints that things are looking good for the future of the franchise, which is awesome to hear.

If They Do, Fans Will Love It

The discussion started with questions from fans about their experiences with the series and some background details. However, the most interesting part came when a fan stated they wouldn’t play another Mass Effect game if Commander Shepard wasn’t included. While acknowledging the fan’s loyalty, Casey Hudson responded that stories sometimes need to conclude, and he felt Shepard’s story had a satisfying ending.
Jennifer Hale addressed the question of Commander Shepard’s fate, encouraging fans to contact the game developers and request more of the character. She emphasized her willingness to reprise the role, saying she’d be eager to return. Neil Meer, also expressed complete agreement, stating he would gladly participate in any future projects featuring Shepard.
It’s encouraging to know the two main stars would be open to revisiting this story, even if it’s just for a new project, after more than ten years.
What We Know About The Next Mass Effect Game
Hopefully BioWare Gives Us More Soon
The Mass Effect series has had an interesting journey. The first game, released in 2007, was well-received, but it was Mass Effect 2 in 2010 that really made the series a huge success.
The series gained a lot of new players thanks to many small but helpful improvements, and people especially enjoyed the larger selection of characters. While Mass Effect 3 (2012) caused disagreement with its ending and the addition of multiplayer, the very negative reaction to Mass Effect: Andromeda (2017) was a major warning sign.
Everyone is currently focused on the next Mass Effect game, sometimes referred to as Mass Effect 4. Development began as early as 2020, and it appears to be a direct continuation of the original trilogy, with the character Liara T’Soni confirmed to reappear.
We haven’t seen much about the new Mass Effect game beyond some early artwork, but the good news is that several people who worked on the original games are involved. And honestly, it’s worth taking the time to get it right – the future of this beloved series could depend on it.
