NewJeans member Danielle Marsh is leaving the K-pop group after her agency, ADOR, cancelled her contract. This decision comes as part of the legal battle currently happening within the company.
HYBE, the company that owns ADOR, has stated it’s suing Min Hee-jin, the former CEO of ADOR, and a family member of NewJeans member Danielle, seeking around $30 million in damages. This lawsuit is the newest development in a year-long conflict that’s put the future of the popular K-pop group NewJeans at risk.
NewJeans is a hugely popular group that launched in 2022. They quickly gained recognition for their music, which draws inspiration from 1990s R&B, and became one of the best-selling musical acts globally within just one year. The group members – Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein – are all young women between the ages of 17 and 21.
The K-pop group NewJeans is parting ways with member Danielle Marsh. Their record label, ADOR, has ended her contract and is now suing her, a family member, and a former company executive for $32 million in damages.

How NewJeans’ contract dispute with ADOR escalated
The conflict began in 2024 when Min Hee-jin, the founder of ADOR and a key figure in the creation of NewJeans’ image, was removed from her position as CEO.
The group claimed the agency had mistreated and manipulated them, and announced they wanted to leave. ADOR, the agency, sued to prevent their departure, and in October, a South Korean court sided with ADOR, enforcing the group’s contracts until 2029.
Although it was previously reported that all five members would rejoin ADOR, things have changed. This week, ADOR announced they were ending Danielle’s contract, stating they could no longer collaborate with her.
The company stated that a relative of both Danielle and Min Hee-jin played a major role in the worsening of their relationship and that they are pursuing legal action to recover financial losses.
ADOR stated that the remaining members were given inaccurate and unfair information, which caused them to misunderstand things about the company.
After lengthy talks, including conversations with her family, Hanni has decided to stay with ADOR. Discussions are still happening with Minji. Previously, it was announced that Hyein and Haerin would also be returning.
Honestly, the news about Danielle leaving has really upset a lot of us fans. Everyone’s talking about how it’s going to affect NewJeans, and a lot of people are worried they won’t be the same without all five members. Social media is flooded with messages asking the company to reconsider, and it’s clear we’re all really concerned about what this means for the group’s future.
Music reviewers are questioning whether NewJeans can succeed with fewer members, pointing out that K-pop groups thrive on the connection between members and the loyalty of their fans. It’s currently unknown what Danielle will do next, and her future in music is uncertain while the legal issues are being resolved.
