Marvel Studios followed up its exciting first trailer with another sneak peek at its upcoming superhero series. Many are calling it the best Marvel show yet, and it’s set to start streaming later this month. Now, fans can get a glimpse of the incredible secret hidden by the main character, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, in this unique and self-aware television show.
Marvel just released a new 50-second trailer for its upcoming series, Wonder Man, which will be available on Disney+ starting January 27th. The show follows Simon Williams, an actor trying to make it big in Hollywood. He desperately wants to star in a remake of “Wonder Man” and will do anything – even pretend to have an agent – to land the part. With a little help from Ben Kingsley’s character, Trevor Slattery (famous for playing a false Mandarin), Simon seems to be getting closer to his goal. However, he’s keeping a major secret: he actually has real superpowers, and the new trailer shows them starting to emerge in dramatic fashion.
The new series Wonder Man comes from Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, with Guest serving as the showrunner. Cretton previously directed the highly praised Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Guest has a background in comedy television, having worked on shows like 30 Rock, Community, and the first season of Hawkeye. The cast of Wonder Man includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Arian Moayed as P. Cleary, X Mayo, Zlatko Burić as Von Kovak, Olivia Thirlby, and Byron Bowers as DeMarr Davis.
Simon Williams, a hopeful actor in Hollywood, is having trouble launching his career. He unexpectedly meets Trevor Slattery, a veteran actor whose prime may be over. They both discover that the famous director Von Kovak is rebooting the superhero movie “Wonder Man.” Determined to land a role that could change their lives, both actors pursue parts in the film, offering audiences a glimpse into how the entertainment industry really works.
