New Until Dawn Trailer Serves Up Fresh Nightmares

The latest trailer for the movie adaptation of Supermassive’s horror game, Until Dawn, has been released! Featuring Odessa A’zion, Michael Cimino, Maia Mitchell, Ella Rubin, Belmont Cameli, Ji-young Yoo, Willem van der Vegt, and Peter Stormare as Dr. Hill, the film is set to premiere in theaters on April 25.

A year after her sister Melanie inexplicably vanished, Clover and her companions venture into a secluded valley where she last been seen, in pursuit of answers. Upon investigating an abandoned visitors’ center, they are pursued by a masked assailant who systematically slaughters them one by one. However, to their bewilderment, each one awakens to find themselves back at the start of the very same evening.

Until Dawn movie isn’t an exact replica of the video game, but it shares a common element – a time-loop mechanism. This loop causes the characters to experience repeated deaths, similar to the gameplay where choices determined the fate of the characters. In this film adaptation, this mechanic allows for multiple restarts, enabling the cast to explore different survival strategies as they attempt to find a way to overcome their predicament.

Each resurrection feels as if the characters are venturing into a fresh terrifying movie category. For them to endure, they must hold out till daybreak, says director David F. Sandberg during a recent glimpse behind the scenes of the film.

Among the various movie and television show adaptations based on video games set for release this year, one noteworthy title is The Minecraft Movie, slated for April 4. Later in the year, Mortal Kombat 2 (October 24) and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (December 5) are also due to hit cinemas. HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 is scheduled for an April release, while Twisted Metal Season 2 is still in development, and we can expect some significant developments when Fallout returns to television.

For the developers at Supermassive Games, known for creating Until Dawn, they revealed fresh glimpses of their upcoming science fiction horror title, Directive 8020, and announced that it will launch in October.
