New Transformers Release Takes Fans Back to Series’ Darkest Hour After Nearly 40 Years

A lot of the most memorable characters from the Transformers first appeared in The Transformers: The Movie. Now, fans can build detailed, animation-accurate models of these characters thanks to a new line of collectible kits based on that original film.

The latest wave of Blokees Galaxy figures, called “Darkest Hour,” includes popular characters from the original Transformers G1, especially those featured in the 1986 animated movie. This wave introduces a new figure of the Decepticon leader, as well as a toy representing the Chaos Bringer’s planet form. With all these exciting new additions, these Blokees figures are sure to please fans.

New Transformers Line Is Now Caught Within the Grip of the Evil Unicron

The Blokees Galaxy Version Wave 9 “Darkest Hour” collection features 10 toys, primarily characters from The Transformers: The Movie and seasons two and three of The Transformers. A few exceptions include Jetfire (originally known as Skyfire in the cartoon), who first appeared in the show’s first season, along with the Autobot Mirage and the Decepticon Bombshell (shown in robot form).

A new version of the toy is also being released. These ‘Blokees’ figures, part of the ‘Galaxy Version’ series, are a standard size, unlike the smaller, chibi-style figures the company also makes. This wave of toys also includes Springer and Arcee as Autobots, and Thrust and the large dinosaur Trypticon as Decepticons.

A notable figure is “Hidden Mode” Megatron, which comes with a laser sword similar to a lightsaber – a weapon he briefly used in his last fight with Optimus Prime. Half of the toy is made of translucent purple plastic, showing how he was transformed by the villainous Unicron.

Fans can also get a planet mode for the Chaos Bringer in this new toy release, allowing them to recreate iconic moments from The Transformers: The Movie. The next wave of Galaxy Version figures, known as “Darkest Hour” (Wave 9), is expected to come out around 2026, which will be the 40th anniversary of the film.
