In 2019, a surprising collaboration was announced, but many wondered if it would ever become reality. Now, fans are finally getting a preview of the animated series that blends Chinese mythology with the world of Transformers.
The opening sequence for My Nezha and Transformers has been released online, following other promotional material that didn’t appear in the final show. Now that it’s airing, the intro offers a nostalgic look back at a previous storyline. Although it’s currently unknown if the show will be available internationally, the opening perfectly captures the show’s unique blend of different cultures.
The Most Unexpected Transformers Cartoon Is Finally Being Released in New First Look
The opening sequence for My Nezha and Transformers is now available, and it perfectly captures the show’s unusual concept. It starts with the main character being pulled into a magical world filled with his own drawings and Transformers toys. There, he encounters the legendary Chinese figure Nezha and the heroic Autobots. The preview shows them battling Megatron and the Decepticons as a team, and even features Nezha gaining a robotic form that can transform into a car.
Although clips of this cartoon are currently going viral on social media, the project actually started years ago. My Nezha and Transformers was first announced in 2019, and at that time, it seemed like a more logical idea from a marketing perspective. The cartoon, produced by CCTV, combines elements from the 2003 series The Legend of Nezha with the Western animated show Transformers: Cyberverse, which aired from 2018 to 2021.
This cartoon marked the franchise’s return after Transformers: Prime and the Transformers: War for Cybertron series. However, the Chinese-produced animated show faced many delays, and the related toy line was actually released several years prior to the show’s debut.
Good news for fans – the long-awaited show is finally premiering on CCTV with a planned 52 episodes! For now, it will only be available in China, as the original series it’s based on ended almost five years ago. This is part of a trend of the franchise offering different content in various regions; for example, Japan currently has its own version with the Transformers: Wild King anime and toy line.
