New Serial Killer Horror Movie With 0% RT Critic Score Isn’t Faring Much Better With Audiences

Psycho Killer is being eviscerated on Rotten Tomatoes.

A new thriller written by Andrew Kevin Walker (known for Seven and 2023’s The Killer) and starring Georgina Campbell (Barbarian) premiered in theaters on February 20th. Early reviews for Psycho Killer have been overwhelmingly negative, resulting in a rare 0% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now that enough viewers have shared their opinions on Psycho Killer, Rotten Tomatoes has calculated an official audience score. Viewers seem to like the movie a little more than critics, but most responses are still negative. Currently, the movie has a score of just 31% on the Popcornmeter, though this could change as more reviews come in.

Although opinions on individual performances varied, most negative reviews of Psycho Killer focused on the acting and writing. Many viewers were also disappointed with the special effects and found the movie boring overall.

The horror movie Psycho Killer doesn’t have a CinemaScore yet, and there aren’t enough reviews on Metacritic to give it a rating. However, it’s receiving mixed reactions on other platforms: a 2.1 out of 5 on Letterboxd and a 5 out of 10 on IMDb, with an equal number of positive and negative reviews.

The film’s disappointing start is clear from its box office predictions for the opening weekend. By Friday evening, it was projected to make only $2 million over three days, despite playing in 1,100 theaters. This puts it behind other new releases like I Can Only Imagine 2 (estimated at $10 million in 3,105 theaters) and How to Make a Killing ($3 million in 1,625 theaters).

The movie was made for under $10 million, and it might eventually earn enough to make a small profit. However, it’s currently not performing as well as other popular movies released this year, like Primate, Return to Silent Hill, Iron Lung, and Send Help, which are currently the top-grossing films worldwide.

The movie Psycho Killer is expected to see a drop in viewers during its second weekend, as it faces tougher competition from the new release of Scream 7. Although reviews aren’t available yet, Scream 7 is predicted to earn over $45 million in its opening weekend in the US.
