As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but feel excited about the upcoming space RPG known as Exodus. It’s being hailed by many as the spiritual successor to the Mass Effect franchise, and rightfully so – it’s being developed by industry veterans who once graced the halls of BioWare studio. With the last installment of Dragon Age still fresh in our minds, some fans are finding it hard to maintain hope for the currently developing fifth part of the cosmic series.

At Certain Affinity studio, developers frequently share updates with us. Last month, we got to witness the gameplay trailer for the first time. Yesterday, they released a new video addressing player inquiries, which you can view below.

Travelers like Jedi

In the developers’ update, it was shared that the primary character’s birthplace – Persepolis on planet Lidon – serves as the central point of interaction. Here, we’ll meet friends, family, and a host of other characters. Moreover, the decisions taken during time-dilation missions will have substantial repercussions for this location.

As we return, we’ll undoubtedly find alterations, such as technology being more deeply ingrained in various institutions – from military to civilian sectors. Of course, the folks we left behind in the city before embarking on this expedition would have undergone changes too. Upon our return, it might be discovered that a substantial amount of time has passed – perhaps even a decade or more – which could drastically impact our interactions with non-player characters (NPCs).

It’s intriguing how the developers drew parallels between the Travelers (the group in question) and the Jedi Knights from Star Wars. They made it clear that unlike the Jedi Order, there is no equivalent to the Jedi Council or higher authority within this game. However, they do exhibit a rebellious and independent spirit, yet they remain committed to a common objective: preserving humanity.

In addition, details regarding the game’s setting were disclosed, including several locations we’ll visit. The unique Mara Yama race was emphasized, suggesting that players will have opportunities to engage with it throughout the game.

Exodus is heading to PC, PS5, and XSX/S. The title doesn’t have a release date yet.
