Today, Sony unveiled an updated system software for the PS5, however, it seems that this update doesn’t offer significant new features.
As stated on the PlayStation website, the recently released update version 25.01-10.60.00 has brought about two main changes: it has enhanced the system software’s performance and stability, and it has also refined the messages and user interface on certain screens. Sony has announced that this update will be distributed in a staged rollout, so it might take some time before you see it on your console.
Unlike the previous PS5 system software update on December 4, which noticeably streamlined the process for transferring data from another PS5 and boosted its stability when handling large data transfers like captures, it appears that this latest update could simply focus on enhancing overall system stability. It’s also plausible that there may be other improvements not explicitly mentioned in the update description.
In related PlayStation updates, the founder of Insomniac Studios, Ted Price, announced his retirement after three decades in the industry and hinted at a potential comeback in movie production. Despite players eagerly anticipating their upcoming Wolverine game, the studio remains tight-lipped about whether it will be released this year.
Last week, Sony made the decision to cancel two upcoming live-service games, one developed by the team behind Days Gone (Bend Studio) and another from the creators of the Demon’s Souls remake (Bluepoint Games). It was said that Bluepoint Games’ project was intended to be a live-service version of God of War.
