New Pokémon TCG Set’s Most Valuable Cards & Pull Rates Appear Online

As a Pokémon TCG collector, I’m really excited about the newest set! It’s a little different than usual, but thankfully, people are already figuring out how rare everything is and what the cards are worth. They released something called ‘Start Deck 100’ in Japan recently – it’s basically 102 different decks you get randomly. Most of the decks seem pretty common, but one in particular is turning out to be super rare – way rarer than the others!

This week, Pokébeach analyzed the rarity of cards from the newest set, using information from a YouTube video by carton_knight and pricing data from online retailers. The “Deck 101” featuring Mega Meganium, Mega Emboar, and Mega Feraligatr, was found in only four out of 1,000 opened packs. A special version of “Deck 001” containing a gold Mega Charizard Y ex has been confirmed, but wasn’t found in any of those 1,000 packs.

The Most Valuable Cards In Start Deck 100 Collection

Based on an analysis by Pokébeach, here are the most valuable cards from Start Deck 100, listed from highest to lowest value:

  • Mega Charizard Y ex (Gold)
  • Pikachu ex (SIR)
  • Lillie’s Clefairy ex (SIR)
  • Mega Feraligatr ex (SIR)
  • Mega Meganium ex (SIR)
  • Boss’s Orders [Corbeau] (FA)
  • Mega Emboar ex (SIR)

The price of new Pokémon cards can change a lot right after they come out. When Pokébeach wrote about it, the gold Mega Charizard Y ex card was selling for almost five times the price of the next most expensive card, Pikachu ex. Currently, the only listing available on TCGPlayer asks for $2,000 for a card in almost perfect condition.

All Pull Rates Explained

Looking at data from 1,000 pulls, most Starter Deck 100s have a pull rate between 0.5% and 1.5%. Decks 101, 057, and 093 were a bit rarer, with a pull rate of only 0.39%. Decks 024 and 048 were the most common, appearing 19 times each, which gave them a pull rate of 1.86%.

Even though we looked at a good number of decks, the chances of getting any specific one aren’t very different from another. If you’re just buying a few decks, you’ll probably end up with a variety. But if you’re trying to get a specific deck, it could take a lot of purchases. Pokébeach also points out that some sellers might be stacking the decks – meaning they could be getting rid of the less valuable ones first.

Even so, it’s good to see information coming from Japan before the new Ascended Heroes set is released here. If you can get your hands on some of the popular cards, the Pokémon TCG’s Start Deck 100 includes some excellent choices.
