More and more mobile gaming controllers are becoming available as people play more games on their smartphones and use emulators. The market has grown quickly from just a few choices to now offering many retro-style accessories designed for playing games on phones.
So, at CES 2026, GameSir dropped a new controller called the Pocket Taco, and honestly, it’s pretty cool. It basically lets you turn your phone into a little handheld gaming device, and it also gives your phone some extra protection while you’re playing. I’m definitely checking this out!
As a mobile gaming fan, I’m really excited about the Pocket Taco! What sets it apart from other controllers – the ones that just clip onto your phone – is that it actually holds your phone inside a super sturdy case. It’s cool because it works with phones of different sizes, and it protects the whole thing, front and back, instead of just connecting at one spot. It feels way more secure and protective than those snap-on options.
Pocket Taco docks your phone inside a protective shell
GameSir recently released a demo video of their Pocket Taco controller, showing it working with various phones. The video showcased features like comfortable, cushioned buttons and a secure docking system. The controller is made for playing emulator games like Delta, and also works with regular mobile games.
Introducing the GameSir Pocket Taco – a retro gaming device that fits right in your pocket! It brings back the classic handheld experience with a modern touch, offering precise controls and ultimate portability. Enjoy the games you love, anytime, anywhere. The Pocket Taco is designed with a gray color scheme reminiscent of the classic Game Boy. It features standard face and shoulder buttons, sized for comfortable handheld use, and a streamlined layout with controls positioned close to the device’s body to make it easy to carry.
The Pocket Taco isn’t meant to be a phone case you leave on all the time. It’s designed as a separate controller that you can slide your phone into when you want to play games, and then take it off when you’re done.
CES 2026 showcased some exciting new gaming products, including Asus’ innovative AR glasses and a unique partnership between Sony and Honda to create a car with PlayStation-like features.
