A new Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie seems more likely than ever following a new report.
I first fell in love with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine way back in the 2000 X-Men movie, and he’s been absolutely amazing in the role ever since! He’s played Wolverine so many times over the years – in X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), the origin story X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), X-Men: First Class (2011), The Wolverine (2013), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), the incredibly emotional Logan (2017), and now, unbelievably, he’s back for Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024! It’s just incredible to see him return.
News emerged earlier this week that Marvel filed a trademark for “Wolverine,” sparking excitement among fans about a potential new Marvel Cinematic Universe project featuring the popular X-Men character. While filing a trademark doesn’t confirm a new project – studios do it for various reasons – it does suggest that one might be in development.
What is the update on a new Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie?
A source claiming inside information, known as Scooper MyTimeToShineHello, has posted on Twitter that Hugh Jackman will star in a new solo Wolverine movie.
Currently, this is just speculation. Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced another Wolverine film starring Hugh Jackman.
Rumors have been swirling about whether Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in the upcoming Marvel movies, Avengers: Doomsday (coming next December) and Avengers: Secret Wars (scheduled for December 2027). While Marvel hasn’t officially announced Jackman’s involvement in either film, he recently hinted on The View that he might be returning to the role soon, leaving fans hopeful.
Hugh Jackman initially decided he was finished with the role after five years, but Ryan Reynolds kept encouraging him to reconsider. Jackman eventually changed his mind and called Reynolds to say he was back in, trusting his instincts that the story wasn’t over yet.
