Larian Studios, the creators of the hit game Baldur’s Gate 3, have announced their next project, titled Divinity.
The Game Awards 2025 featured a lot of big announcements, including a new Control game from Remedy and Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, which is inspired by the classic Knights of the Old Republic. However, a trailer from Larian Studios really stood out as a highlight.
After finally revealing the meaning behind the strange desert statue, the trailer for Divinity, the latest installment in the popular RPG series, has been released. Here’s a rundown of what we’ve learned about the game so far.
Divinity reveal trailer
Is there a Divinity release date?
Okay, so there’s no news yet on when Divinity: Dragon Command will actually come out, and honestly, I wouldn’t hold your breath. Larian Studios just released Baldur’s Gate 3 last year, and their games are HUGE. It’s going to take them a while, so I’m guessing we’re looking at several more years before we get our hands on it.
Platforms
We still don’t know exactly which gaming systems this game is being made for, but it will definitely be available on PC, since all of the developer’s games are released there first.
Similar to Baldur’s Gate 3, we anticipate that Divinity: Original Sin 2 will also be released on consoles soon after its PC launch. It’s likely to be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, the latest gaming consoles, or potentially both.
Gameplay & story

The next Divinity game is shaping up to be a massive RPG, similar to Baldur’s Gate 3 and past Divinity titles, but even more expansive and detailed. The developers say it’s their most ambitious project to date, and that’s high praise considering the scale of their previous work.
As a fan, I have to say we haven’t gotten much of the story yet! The trailer showed this incredibly disturbing scene of a man being burned, and it looks like that unleashed something really dark onto Rivellon. The statue left behind – made of wood and… well, corpses – is already becoming legendary for how creepy it is. It definitely makes you wonder what’s going on!
The press release also announced that Divinity is a completely new game, so you don’t need to have played any previous Larian games to enjoy it. However, players familiar with the Original Sin games will already know more about the game’s world and story.
