New Cycle gets a new look with Unity 6. Changes are coming for the survival city builder, available in early access

For approximately a year now, “New Cycle” has been in its early access phase, and it’s anticipated that the game will soon experience some of its most substantial updates yet. Many of these changes have been inspired by player feedback, such as modifications to the city development trees. The Core Engage team has shared that they’ve made considerable advancements in the development of “New Cycle” over the past few months.

What is New Cycle?

For those not familiar with the “New Cycle” is a city-building survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world resembling the industrial revolution era. Our objective is to grow our city, gather resources, and survive in a harsh environment while introducing and enhancing technologies for smoother city operation and establishing laws that mold its society. As we progress, updates to the game using the latest version of Unity engine will bring more variety to these aspects.

New Cycle is switching to Unity 6

Initially developed using the Unity engine, New Cycle is now transitioning to its most recent version, namely Unity 6, after several months. The developers have stated that this upgrade will facilitate continued growth and enhancement of the game’s performance. Unity 6 offers updated developer tools, simplifying programming tasks for easier management. Players can anticipate a revamped graphic design as a result.

New lighting design makes the winter nights more atmospheric.

In the game New Cycle, players have the freedom to select diverse landscapes, and with Unity 6, these environments will grow even more distinct. Enhancements in texture clarity are planned, along with an upgrade in lighting effects. Moreover, the display of multiple effects at once will be boosted. A significant advancement is the inclusion of volumetric clouds, whose motion is influenced by weather and time of day.

At the request of the players, the Core Engage studio has created innovative skylights and lighting arrangements to effectively portray a somber, post-apocalyptic ambiance. These designs will be tailored to fit each specific biome for a more immersive gaming experience.

Lighting and textures look much better thanks to Unity 6.

As a nature enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that we’re expanding our game’s landscapes with two exciting new maps centered around aquatic biomes! Fishing becomes a significant aspect for survival in these environments. These new biomes also introduce intriguing mechanics like water salinity and alternative energy production methods. Additionally, the potential for resource gathering and exploration is somewhat restricted until we delve deeper into diplomacy and trade research.

Interface changes and new gameplay elements in New Cycle

The design of the user interface has been adjusted to provide a clearer depiction of the variety of biomes that players can explore. Now, players will find an expanded range of biomes to select from and can conveniently preview the potential hazards each ecosystem presents, prior to beginning their gameplay.

In the latest New Cycle update, I found myself diving into some pretty exciting tweaks to the gameplay. One of the coolest additions is an expansion to the chemical development tree, introducing fresh resources that’ll now play a key role in my current production lines.

Aquatic biomes emphasize the new industry branches.

With the latest update, I’ve been granted a migration mechanic in my gaming world. This means I’ll encounter fresh narratives and challenges that will help me grasp the complexities of this society, rebuilding on the ashes of the old world. Of course, with every opportunity comes its own set of hurdles, and choices I’ll need to make along the way – whether to welcome newcomers into my settlement or send them packing. It’s all about the decisions I make, shaping my gaming experience.

As a gamer, I’m excited about the major updates coming to my favorite city-building game! Previously, the growth of the metropolis felt too predictable and repetitive. But now, the developers are introducing more branches in the development tree, offering a wider range of options for expanding my city. This means that each playthrough won’t feel the same as the last, providing a fresh experience every time I dive back into the game. Plus, the decisions I make will impact things like reputation and ideology, adding depth to the gameplay and making each choice matter.

Managing conveyor belts is one of the key mechanics of New Cycle.

Moreover, the creators of Core Engage delved deeper into examining the popular conveyor belt management system, which was appreciated by many players, despite being challenging for some. The developers disclosed that this was one of the main reasons why players were abandoning further gameplay. Consequently, they introduced an option to construct conveyor belts underground, intended to make managing the entire system a bit easier. However, it’s important to note that this is not the definitive version of this feature. Instead, it will continue to be refined and eventually better synchronized with the overall gameplay.

Adjustments will be made to childbirth procedures, along with fine-tuning the supply or worth of consumer products. Fresh entrants will additionally get a chance to acquaint themselves with the revised tutorials.

Vehicle travel in New Cycle

To spice up gameplay and offer players a reprieve from the heavy responsibilities of managing a metropolis, Core Engage has integrated a car driving feature. Consequently, new missions will become available. Furthermore, water-based environments are planned to include swimming mechanics in the near future too.

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that we’ll get a fresh soundtrack with eight brand new tunes coming our way! On top of that, the creators have some exciting plans to beef up the game customization options we already love. They’re talking about adding more tweaks, like the ability to control the movement of certain fauna elements based on wind or shadow quality. Can’t wait to see what else they’ve got in store for us!

We’ll get behind the wheel of a truck!
