New Cyberpunk 2 Details Emerge For Highly Anticipated RPG Sequel

CD Projekt Red is working on several projects, including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. According to the game’s creator, Mike Pondsmith, the new game will take place in a unique city he envisions as a distorted version of Chicago.

In a recent REDstreams interview, designer Greg Pondsmith shared that he visited the development team and discussed progress on the new city they’re building. He explained that this new location will be built on top of the existing Night City from Cyberpunk 2077.

He mentioned visiting another city, but didn’t reveal its name. He was impressed with Night City, saying it captured a certain atmosphere and felt successful. He compared its vibe to a distorted version of Chicago, rather than the futuristic look of Blade Runner, and believed it would work well, according to IGN.

Could Keanu Reeves come back?

During the interview, the topic of Keanu Reeves potentially returning as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2 came up. Pondsmith mentioned seeing reports of Reeves expressing interest in reprising the role and jokingly urged him to get in touch with the development team.

Pondsmith stated that Keanu Reeves expressed interest in reprising his role as Johnny, even if it meant finding a way to bring the character back from death. Pondsmith offered to help, saying, ‘I have ways to do that, Keanu. Contact me.’

Johnny Silverhand is a famous musician who exists as a digital ghost within the game, even after his body is gone. What happens to him at the end of Cyberpunk 2077 depends on the player’s choices. While it’s possible he could reappear in a future Cyberpunk game, it’s not certain, and would rely on many different circumstances.

CD Projekt is currently working on a fourth installment in The Witcher series, as well as partnering with Fool’s Theory to remake the very first Witcher game.
