Netflix is moving forward with its live-action Scooby-Doo series, and the main cast is now set! Following the announcement that Mckenna Grace will play Daphne, the roles of Fred, Velma, and Shaggy have also been filled.
The new live-action Scooby-Doo series, coming to Netflix in March 2025, has cast Maxwell Jenkins as Fred, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma, and Tanner Hagen as Shaggy. While Netflix ordered the reboot a year ago, the start of filming and the show’s release date haven’t been announced yet.
Jenkins has a growing list of credits, including roles in Netflix series like Sense8 and the Lost in Space reboot. He recently played a younger version of the main character in the Amazon series Reacher, and also appeared in Dear Edward and The Bondsman. On the film side, he’s acted alongside Mark Wahlberg in Joe Bell and Nicolas Cage in Arcadian.
Kathryn Fortson began her acting career with a guest appearance on Mindy Kaling’s sitcom, The Mindy Project. Kaling also created the animated series Velma, where she provided the voice for the main character. Fortson recently appeared in the first season of HBO Max’s The Pitt, and has also had roles in shows like Togetherness, Tales from the Loop, and Trolls: TrollsTopia. Marvel fans will likely recognize her as Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
