Though Netflix’s new fantasy series isn’t out yet, the Taiwanese show promises to be excellent when its six episodes are released next week. Fantasy is incredibly popular right now, largely thanks to the huge success of HBO’s Game of Thrones, which inspired many similar shows.
As a fantasy fan, I’ve been loving the success HBO’s been having! Not only did House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms blow up, but shows like The Legend of Vox Machina, Outlander, Arcane, Interview with the Vampire, The Witcher, and Castlevania all proved they weren’t just a lucky break. It’s clear that mature, R-rated fantasy is a big draw, but now with HBO tackling a Harry Potter series, it seems like family-friendly fantasy is making a huge return too – which is awesome!
Agent From Above Looks Like A Must-Watch Action Fantasy Series
It’s no surprise that Netflix is releasing another fantasy series, this time from Taiwan. Based on Xing Zi’s novel “Ji Shen,” the show, called Agent From Above, follows Han Chieh, a criminal played by Kai Ko, who unexpectedly becomes the host for a powerful god – the Third Crown Prince.
Nezha, also called the Third Crown Prince or Third Lotus Prince, is a famous figure in Taoism, Chinese folk religion, and Buddhism. In the movie Agent from Above, Wang Po-chieh portrays Nezha, and Hsueh Shih-ling plays Wu Tien-chi, a wealthy heir who wants to disrupt the balance of the spiritual world.
In the action film Agent from Above, Han Chieh is a troubled man fighting both supernatural demons and his own past struggles with addiction. He works for the Third Crown Prince, hoping to atone for his mistakes while also protecting humanity from a planned invasion led by Wu Tien-chi.
Agent From Above Is Another Exciting Book Adaptation For Netflix
Netflix has several fantasy shows planned for 2026, but Agent From Above is particularly anticipated. Like many of Netflix’s popular new series, it’s adapted from a highly successful book.
Netflix has been adapting many of its recent hits, starting with January’s His & Hers, which quickly became the most popular show on the service, surpassing even the Stranger Things finale. This trend continued with the March release of the six-part thriller That Night. This strategy benefits Netflix because shows based on books already have established fans, and the shows themselves often encourage viewers to read the original source material.
Agent From Above Can Be A Perfect Binge-Watch On Netflix In April
The upcoming series Agent From Above looks set to be a major fantasy hit. The trailer showcases a rich and detailed world, a complex main character, and plenty of exciting action. Keep an eye out for it on Netflix in March 2026 – it’s definitely one to watch!
