The highly acclaimed and intense anime series, created by MAPPA and directed by Yuichiro Hayashi, is returning to Netflix with a brand new season after a long wait.
According to What’s on Netflix, the second season of the popular anime *Dorohedoro* is confirmed to be coming to Netflix next year, after being delayed. While a precise release date hasn’t been announced, it’s currently expected to premiere during the Spring 2026 anime season. The official *Dorohedoro* X (formerly Twitter) account recently shared a new visual and announcement. You can see the promotional art from the announcement below.
Netflix’s Dorohedoro Season 2 Gets New Official Reveal Ahead of Spring 2026 Release
Originally appearing in Monthly Ikki in 2000, Dorohedoro quickly gained a dedicated fanbase. The dark, intense, and often violent manga series continued for 23 volumes until 2018, followed by a popular anime adaptation two years later. The first season of the anime included 12 episodes and six short clips, and it received excellent reviews. Currently, Dorohedoro boasts a 100% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a 96% audience score based on over 50 reviews.
In a bizarre world filled with ruthless killers, terrifying creatures, and hidden magic users, Caiman—a man with a reptile head and no memory of his past—searches for the sorcerer who cursed him. He’s unaffected by magic himself, and hopes killing sorcerers will lift his burden. The story, *Dorohedoro*, also follows a diverse group of characters, like fellow monster hunter Nikaido and Professor Kasukabe, a scientist who has spent years studying sorcerers.
Despite some production delays in 2024, Season 2 of *Dorohedoro* is confirmed! Director Yuichiro Hayashi, known for *Attack on Titan: The Final Season*, announced the return, saying it’s “even more chaotic, anarchic, and action-packed than before!” He encourages new viewers to catch up with Season 1, describing *Dorohedoro* as a funny and wild world.
You can currently watch Season 1 of *Dorohedoro* on Netflix. While Season 2 was initially planned for 2025, it’s now expected to be released in early 2026.
