Netflix’s Cash Queens Is the Best Crime Show Binge of 2026

‘Cash Queens’ is a captivating European crime drama quickly becoming a hit. This French series follows a group of women who turn to theft because they’re struggling financially, offering a relatable and entertaining story.

Netflix is well-known for bringing international shows to a wider audience, and many of them have become huge successes. Viewers are really enjoying ‘Cash Queens,’ and it has the potential to be Netflix’s next major crime series.

Cash Queens is a Crime Show With a Relatable Premise

Okay, so I just watched the trailer for Cash Queens, and honestly, the bright neon, bold colors, and these bank robbers rocking fake ZZ Top beards and sunglasses? It immediately screamed ‘this is going to be a blast!’ And the first episode doesn’t disappoint. It kicks off with Rosalie and Kim browsing a toy store, trying to pick out the perfect Barbie for their friend Sofia’s daughter’s birthday – a surprisingly normal scene considering what’s to come, I suspect!

Kim quickly convinces Rosalie to pretend to be pregnant, suggesting she has enough space to hide something. The audience soon learns Rosalie isn’t really expecting, and she’s cleverly concealing Barbies under her shirt to create the illusion of a baby bump. However, after adding a few extra items under her clothes, Rosalie and Kim are discovered by a police detective and taken back to their apartment. The detective is revealed to be Sofia’s brother, hinting at an upcoming conflict between him and Sofia’s group of friends.

While the show starts off as a lot of fun, creators Olivier Rosemberg and Carine Prévôt quickly reveal that Cash Queens explores surprisingly relevant and realistic problems. Rosalie, Kim, Sofia, and even Rosalie’s cousin Alex are all struggling with money. With no support from the government or their jobs, they decide to take matters into their own hands and steal 100,000 euros from Rosalie’s bank – a decision that will dramatically change their lives.

Cash Queens is Loosely Inspired By a Group of Real-Life Criminals

Rosalie and her team get help from Chloé (Pascale Arbillot), a rich client who’s joining the heist as the getaway driver, even though she doesn’t need the money. Chloé’s participation makes things more interesting, highlighting how people can have very different reasons for committing a crime.

I’ve been following the story of Rosalie and her crew, and it’s incredible! They pulled off a series of bank robberies, and what’s really fascinating is they disguised themselves as men to do it – it’s become a huge part of why people are so captivated. It turns out they were actually based on a real group called ‘The Gang des Amazones,’ an all-female gang who robbed around 300,000 francs from seven banks in the south of France back in the late 80s and early 90s. It’s amazing to see this story come to life!

Cash Queens

Although Cash Queens touches on important social issues and draws from real life, these themes aren’t the main focus. Instead, Rosemberg and Prévôt have created a quick-moving, wildly entertaining show with a sharp wit and characters that viewers will quickly love.

Filled with thrilling robberies and constant pressure from the police, criminals, and crooked officials, this show is incredibly suspenseful and likely to be devoured in a single weekend. It’s bold to say so early in the year, but this new series could very well be the best crime show binge of 2024.
