Netflix’s Bloodhounds Studio Breaks Silence on Season 3 Hints (Exclusive)

Wow, Netflix is really killing it this Spring! They’ve dropped a ton of great stuff, both new shows and returning favorites from all over the globe. I’ve been especially hooked on the new Japanese dramas like Sins of Kujo, and I was SO excited to finally see season two of Beef. They even surprised me with a really creepy psychological thriller called If Wishes Could Kill. But honestly, one of the biggest highlights has been Bloodhounds season 2! It’s amazing to see how Studio N, the company behind it, is consistently delivering such diverse and high-quality content. They’re definitely becoming a major player!

I wasn’t surprised to see season 2 of Bloodhounds do so well – the first season was a hit too! It quickly climbed the Netflix charts, and even brought some renewed attention to season 1. What really stood out was seeing Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi back as Kim Gun-woo and Hong Woo-jin, and how their partnership evolved. This time around, they moved from taking down a local loan shark operation to tackling a much bigger threat: a powerful underground boxing league.

The final episode of Bloodhounds left many questions unanswered, especially after the main villain was spared and hints about season 3 were dropped, along with post-credit scenes featuring characters like Kang Hae-gwan and a new Thai drug lord. Studio N CEO Michelle Kwon recently spoke with Ebaster to clarify the company’s plans for the show’s future.

Studio N Confirms Hopes for Bloodhounds Future Pending Netflix’s Renewal

The ending of Bloodhounds season 2 strongly suggests a third season is possible. When the villain, Im Baek-jeong, revealed the identity of his accomplice, Paichit Chaichana, to the NIS agents, it opened the door to international storylines. Whether the show will expand beyond Korea depends on if Netflix decides to renew it and continue exploring the world of Bloodhounds. Michelle Kwon commented on the potential for future seasons and the studio’s interest in continuing the series.

Although a third season hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, we believe there’s plenty more story to tell.

Kwon isn’t the only one hoping for more Bloodhounds. Woo Do-hwan, who plays Gun-woo, also expressed this desire in an interview with Press Trust of India. While he didn’t confirm a third season, he encouraged fans to continue showing their support if they want one. Considering Netflix’s backing of other successful Studio N projects like Sweet Home, as Kwon mentioned, a third season is definitely possible if fans demonstrate their enthusiasm.

Bloodhounds Has Surged in Popularity in More Ways Than One

Netflix’s Bloodhounds season 2 reached the top spot for non-English shows the week of April 6th-12th, and has remained in the top 10 since its release last month – just like season 1. But that’s not the only sign of its success. According to Kwon, the new season also caused a huge surge in readers for the original Naver Webtoon comic that the show is based on.

Jeong Chan’s new series will likely surprise fans with its darker, more realistic take on the story and its two main characters, who aren’t simply good or evil. Both Kwon and Studio N have taken notice of the show’s growing popularity, and have commented:

Bloodhounds are well-liked around the globe, and they’re particularly popular in Korea, where many people adore them.

local fans of the WEBTOON title embrace the series adaptation as much as they have here.”

Fans can read the comic in English on Webtoon, but it became especially popular with Korean readers on Naver Webtoon. This surge in interest suggests a third season is still possible, potentially featuring Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-yi, and even Rain, all returning after the events of the IKFC, ready to train and continue the fight. With subtle clues about what’s next in Bloodhounds, it’s now up to Netflix to decide if they’ll move forward with another season.
