The “Next on Netflix” event, brimming with celebrity appearances from Tina Fey, Ben Affleck, John Mulaney, and the Duffer brothers, promised a year filled with cinematic gems. The streamer has certainly set the stage for an exciting film journey ahead!
This year, Netflix has premiered movies such as “Back in Action” starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, and the critically acclaimed “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.” The upcoming 2024 release, “Emilia Pérez,” with its 13 Academy Award nominations, has increased the pressure on film executive Dan Lin to create Netflix’s next major critical success. He also needs to continue producing sequels for popular titles like “The Old Guard.”

The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep
The enchanting animated series “The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep” is set to premiere on February 11, broadening the universe of Netflix that’s built upon the widely-loved video game series. In this new installment, Geralt of Rivia gets embroiled in a centuries-old dispute between humans and merfolk. He must unravel their secret to prevent an impending war among kingdoms.
La Dolce Villa
The romantic comedy titled “La Dolce Villa,” featuring Scott Foley, formerly of “Scandal,” will debut on February 13, perfect for Valentine’s Day viewing. This heartwarming tale follows a prosperous businessman who journeys to Italy to prevent his imaginative daughter Olivia from renovating a run-down villa. However, he may unexpectedly uncover the enchantment, charm, and romance that the country has to offer during his trip.

Plankton: The Movie
The brand-new release in the “SpongeBob SquarePants” realm, titled “Plankton: The Movie,” premieres on Netflix on March 7. As per the movie’s synopsis, “Plankton’s life is turned upside down when his scheme for global conquest fails.” Take a peek at the new image below.
The Electric State
The streaming service will debut ‘The Electric State’ on March 14, starring Millie Bobby Brown from ‘Stranger Things’ and Chris Pratt from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. This project is directed by the Russo brothers, who brought us ‘Avengers: Endgame’. The story unfolds in an alternate 90s setting, post a robot uprising. It follows a teenager who has lost her brother, as she embarks on a journey across the American West with a cartoonish robot and a smuggler along with his companion. Together they search for her missing younger brother.
The Life List
The Life List” – A Romantic Journey with Sofia Carson and Connie Britton
On March 28, this heartwarming romantic film will make its debut. The story follows Alex Rose as she embarks on a mission to complete her long-held childhood bucket list, which leads her on an emotional rollercoaster filled with laughter, tears, and self-discovery. As she unearths family secrets, finds love, and learns more about herself, this journey promises an unforgettable experience.
Nonnas
The comedy titled “Nonnas,” written and directed by Stephen Chbosky (known for “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”), is set to hit theaters on May 9th. In this movie, Vince Vaughn and Susan Sarandon star, with the plot revolving around a man who takes a significant risk to uphold his mother’s memory by launching an Italian restaurant in collaboration with a group of local grandmothers.
Havoc
In the upcoming spring, the action-packed thriller “Havoc,” directed by Gareth Evans and featuring Tom Hardy, will make its debut. Fear Street: Prom Queen
In the upcoming “Fear Street” movie titled “Prom Queen,” India Fowler, Suzanna Son, David Iacono, and Ariana Greenblatt take on the leading roles. This chilling film, set to premiere this summer, is centered around the prom season at Shadyside High. However, when an audacious newcomer decides to compete for the title of prom queen, and a series of strange disappearances occur among her fellow students, the class of ’88 finds themselves in for a terrifying prom night experience.

The plot revolves around a group of Miami cops who stumble upon a huge cache of money hidden in an abandoned warehouse. However, as the news of such a massive seizure spreads, trust among them starts to crumble. Suddenly, everything is under scrutiny – even our allegiances. Who can we truly depend on? That’s the intriguing question this film poses. Can’t wait to see it unfold on the big screen!
Untitled Kathryn Bigelow Film
Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming Netflix film, yet to be named, is set for release in the fall. The plot specifics are being kept secret, but it will feature Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Jonah Hauer-King, Moses Ingram, Greta Lee, and Jason Clarke in the cast.

The Woman in Cabin 10
The movie “The Woman in Cabin 10,” starring Keira Knightley, is another addition to the fall releases, based on Ruth Ware’s novel. In the film, a journalist, while on a luxury yacht for an assignment, encounters an unexpected incident: she sees a passenger thrown overboard at night. However, when she reports this to the crew and passengers, she is told that no such event occurred, as everyone was accounted for. Despite facing disbelief from all around, she persists in seeking answers, risking her own life in the process.
A Merry Little Ex-Mas
In the upcoming romantic comedy “A Merry Little Ex-Mas,” Alicia Silverstone, Oliver Hudson, Jameela Jamil, and Melissa Joan Hart take center stage. 2025 is when the animated comedy adventure “In Your Dreams” is scheduled for release. This story follows Stevie and her brother Elliot as they traverse the bizarre terrains of their dreams. They’ll encounter a sarcastic plush giraffe, zombified breakfast foods, and even the Sandman’s nemesis, the queen of nightmares. If they can endure these challenges, the Sandman will grant them their ultimate wish: a perfect family. Simu Liu and Craig Robinson are contributing their voices to this exciting project. Pookoo
Wrapping up its lively opening credits, the animated film “Pookoo,” produced by John Lasseter at Skydance, is a buddy comedy featuring a tiny forest dweller and a grand avian, who are normally bitter adversaries in The Valley, embarking on an extraordinary journey together.
Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Destination Wedding

Balancing the challenge of keeping his students in check while battling his own deteriorating mental state, this role promises an emotionally charged performance. Based on Max Porter’s novel “Shy,” “Steve” offers a gripping portrayal of a critical 24-hour period in the life of its namesake character.
The Thursday Murder Club
In 2025, ‘The Thursday Murder Club’ movie, adapted from Richard Osman’s popular book of the same title, follows four spirited retirees – Elizabeth (played by Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) and Joyce (Celia Imrie).
