Netflix Teases Theatrical Plans For Warner Bros. Movies As Dune 3, Mortal Kombat II & More Come Under Question

Netflix announced its plan to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery and stated it intends to continue running Warner Bros. as it does now, including releasing movies in theaters. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos discussed this plan further during a media call that same day.

He stated that Warner Bros. films will still be released in theaters as planned, while Netflix movies will continue to have limited or no theatrical releases. Here’s his complete statement:

I don’t see this as a shift in how Netflix or Warner Bros. release films. I expect release windows will eventually become more convenient for viewers, allowing them to watch content faster and where they prefer. For now, you can still expect all films planned for theatrical release by Warner Bros. to continue playing in theaters. Netflix will also continue its current approach – occasionally giving some films a limited theatrical run before releasing them to subscribers, as our main focus is bringing new movies directly to our members, which is what they want.

More to come…
