The streaming service has announced its new series, a thrilling blend of neo-Western and Southern Gothic elements centered around a serial killer. The show stars , known from Gangs of London and Black Mirror, and is written by a key screenwriter from the hit Marvel movies Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It’s expected to be the next big binge-worthy show on the platform.
Joe Robert Cole is adapting S.A. Cosby’s award-winning 2023 thriller, All the Sinners Bleed, into a nine-episode Netflix series. The show will center on the first Black sheriff in a small, conservative county as he investigates a serial killer targeting members of his Black community, all while claiming to act in the name of God.
Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù will star in All the Sinners Bleed, a new series with a compelling title. The show centers on a sheriff whose beliefs are challenged by shocking acts of violence, and it will give Dìrísù a chance to truly lead a story. While he’s proven his acting skills in popular shows like Gangs of London, Humans, Slow Horses, and the film His House, this is the first time a series will rely solely on his performance. He’s sure to deliver a powerful and captivating portrayal.
S.A. Cosby’s All the Sinners Bleed is a gripping Southern noir novel featuring Titus Crown, the first Black sheriff of Charon County, Virginia. Sheriff Crown, used to a quiet county with few crimes, is thrown into a complex case involving a serial killer who may be connected to the town’s dark past and a local church. Beyond the hunt for the killer, the story also explores themes of racial tension, the rise of extremist groups, and the deep-seated historical divisions in the American South.
Joining Jóhannes Dìrísù in ‘All the Sinners Bleed’ are talented actors like Leila George (known from ‘Disclaimer’), Daniel Ezra (‘All American’), John Douglas Thompson (‘The Gilded Age’), Murray Bartlett (‘The White Lotus’), Nicole Beharie (‘Miss Juneteenth’), Andrea Cortés (‘Mayans M.C.’), and Giancarlo Esposito (‘Breaking Bad’). This impressive cast will undoubtedly make the thriller series even more appealing to viewers.
I was completely blown away by the incredibly detailed world S.A. Cosby built, and I instantly connected with the character of Titus Crown. That’s what drew me to bringing All the Sinners Bleed to life on Netflix. I’m thrilled to be showrunning, writing, and executive producing the series, and even directing the first episode! We’re working with some amazing partners – Higher Ground Productions, Barack and Michelle Obama’s company, along with Amblin Television, and of course, S.A. Cosby himself. It’s a really exciting project, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.
