Netflix promotes One Piece Season 2 with whale the size of a house in Tokyo

To promote the second season of One Piece, Netflix created a massive, life-sized whale installation in Tokyo, bringing a famous creature from the show to life in the real world.

Okay, so I was walking through Shibuya and I almost lost it! They had this HUGE display of Laboon, the whale from One Piece, set up! It’s to promote the second season of the live-action show on Netflix, and honestly, it was incredible to see such a massive tribute to the series in person. It really got me hyped for the new season!

The massive whale sculpture reaches about eight meters in height, making it a striking sight for visitors. Both sides of the sculpture are decorated with characters from the show.

Iconic whale from One Piece gets IRL display

The Straw Hat Pirates first meet Laboon at Reverse Mountain, the entrance to the dangerous Grand Line. They find him sadly hitting his head against the Red Line, waiting for a pirate crew who once promised to come back for him. This part of the story is incredibly moving, so be prepared to feel emotional when you watch One Piece Season 2!

The return of the popular whale character gives viewers a clue about what’s coming in Season 2, which will explore the beginning of the Grand Line storyline. Leaks from the set suggest the season will feature locations like Loguetown, Whisky Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island.

The live-action Netflix series ONE PIECE is promoting its second season with a massive 8-meter-tall whale, Laboon, appearing in Shibuya! You’ll also find character art on either side of the display. It will be up from March 10th to 16th, 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, but may be subject to change due to weather.
