Netflix Marvel Hero Teases Their MCU Return Right Before Daredevil Born Again Season 2’s Release

As a huge Marvel fan, I was thrilled to see characters from the old Netflix shows popping up in the new Daredevil: Born Again and the upcoming Punisher revival! Seeing Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle really got people talking. And it sounds like there might be even more familiar faces joining the MCU – rumor has it another beloved character from The Punisher could be making a comeback soon!

As a big fan of ‘Homeland’, I noticed Amber Rose Revah, who played Dinah Madani, recently shared a still on Instagram of her character with a gun. It was just the image, no explanation, but it immediately brought me back to that intense fight scene between Dinah and Krista Dumont, the psychiatrist who really cared for the vets on the show. It was a really memorable moment, and the photo definitely sparked some memories!

As expected, the post quickly led to a lot of discussion online. The Punisher and its characters are gaining traction within the more grounded, street-level side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As a huge fan of these characters, I was so excited when I heard about both the Punisher special and Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again coming to Disney+. It didn’t take long for fans to start thinking about how they might connect, and it makes total sense to me that Maya Madani could be involved in either one. She has a history with Frank Castle, and her work with the CIA at the end of the Netflix Daredevil series really sets her up perfectly for either project.

Given the timing, it’s unlikely the actress’s recent post was just a coincidence. Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again begins streaming on Disney+ on March 24th, at the same time as a special presentation featuring The Punisher is planned for release later in the year. It seems improbable she’d share a photo of her character now, after so long, simply for fun.

How Could Dinah Madani Make Her MCU Return?

Dinah Madani isn’t a character from the Marvel comics. She was created for the Netflix series The Punisher to serve as both an initial opponent and later, an ally to Frank Castle. Madani is an Iranian-American Homeland Security agent who previously served in Kandahar, Afghanistan, and returns to New York to investigate the death of her colleague, Ahmad Zubair. This investigation quickly leads her to cross paths with Frank Castle and uncover a large-scale government conspiracy.

This season was a real shocker for me as a fan! We finally learned the truth about Zubair – he wasn’t just a casualty, he was actually murdered during this shady, off-the-books operation called Cerberus. It turned out it was run by the CIA’s William Rawlins, and even more shockingly, Frank’s old buddy Billy Russo was involved in the cover-up. It was a tough reveal, honestly.

Madani slowly reveals a hidden plot, but it comes at a great personal price. After Russo murders her colleague, Sam Stein, and shoots Madani in the head, she miraculously lives.

In Season 2, she returned to spearhead the search for Russo, who had escaped from a hospital with amnesia. His psychiatrist, Krista Dumont, was secretly helping him. Driven by a need for justice, Madani’s character becomes singularly focused on the case.

By the end of the season, several major events occur: Dumont is thrown from a third-story window, Castle kills Russo, and Madani resigns from Homeland Security to become a CIA agent. Madani’s journey throughout the season shows she remains a valuable asset.

If the Punisher is coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the upcoming Disney+ special seems like the most likely place we’ll see him. The special, which is about an hour long, features Jon Bernthal reprising his role as Frank Castle, and Jason R. Moore returning as Curtis Hoyle from the original Netflix series. While Marvel is keeping the story details secret, photos from the set suggest a new villain, crime boss Ma Gnucci, will be introduced – a character who hasn’t appeared in live-action before.

Given the show’s focus on a major criminal like Ma Gnucci, it’s likely the CIA will become involved in the story. Since Madani is now a CIA operative, it makes sense she’ll be part of the investigation. She could also appear in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, as a CIA agent would fit naturally into that world as well.
