Okay, so if you loved KPop Demon Hunters on Netflix – and clearly a lot of you did, given how huge it was for the platform – you’ll be thrilled to hear a sequel is officially happening! It’s fantastic news for fans, as the first movie really broke some records for streaming numbers.
Netflix announced on Thursday that they’re starting work on a sequel to KPop Demon Hunters. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, who worked on the first film, will return to direct. This project is the first result of a new, multi-year deal with Netflix for writing and directing.
Kang, the Korean filmmaker, expressed immense pride that audiences are eager for more of the story and characters from his film. He stated there’s much more to explore within the world they’ve created, and he’s excited to share it, adding that this is just the start.
Appelhans explained that the characters feel like family and their world has become a familiar place for the team. They’re thrilled to continue developing the story, creating new challenges for the characters, and exploring innovative ways to combine music, animation, and storytelling.
