Netflix Casts Actor To Voice Scooby-Doo in Live-Action Show

I’ve been following the live-action Scooby-Doo series Netflix is making, and there’s a new update about when we might actually see it! It sounds like they’re starting to finalize plans for how they’ll roll things out, which is exciting. It’s really building anticipation as we get closer to the premiere – I’m definitely getting more and more interested in this fresh take on a classic!

Frank Welker to voice Scooby-Doo in live-action show as well

Frank Welker will once again be the voice of Scooby-Doo in the upcoming live-action series on Netflix, according to Nexus Point News. Welker has been voicing Fred Jones since 1969 and took on the role of Scooby-Doo in 2002, and he’s returning to play the beloved Great Dane in this new version of the classic story.

So, I just heard that Netflix is making this new series – really exciting! They’ve got Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg running the show, which is a great sign. Apparently, they’re deep into casting the younger actors right now, doing all those screen tests to find the perfect fit. If everything goes according to plan, they’re aiming to start filming in Atlanta in April 2026. I’m already looking forward to it!

This new take on the classic story follows Shaggy and Daphne during their last summer at Camp Ruby-Spears. They become involved in a spooky mystery when a sad Great Dane puppy seems to have seen something supernatural – a murder, perhaps. With the help of Velma, a practical local, and a mysterious new student named Freddy, the friends start a frightening investigation that could expose hidden secrets from everyone’s past.

Frank Welker is represented by the Tisherman Gilbert Motley Drozdoski Talent Agency (TGMD). He’s the voice behind many famous characters, such as Megatron and Soundwave from Transformers, Abu and Rajah from Aladdin, Nibbler from Futurama, and Garfield in both Garfield Gets Real and Garfield’s Fun Fest.

The series is produced by Appelbaum and Rosenberg’s company, with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman of Berlanti Productions, and André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner of Midnight Radio all serving as executive producers. Warner Bros. Television and Netflix are partnering to create the show.

Netflix has not announced a release date.
