Okay, so Netflix just dropped some news that’s totally up my alley! They’re making a reality competition show based on Clue, the board game! I used to love playing that as a kid, so I’m really excited to see how they turn it into a TV show. It’s gonna be interesting to see people actually *solving* a mystery like that.
Netflix announced its new reality show will be based on the classic game Clue. Contestants will play characters like Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlett, and Professor Plum, and compete in both physical and mental challenges. Just like the board game, players will need to gather clues to solve a mystery and figure out who committed the crime.
The classic mystery board game Clue is being transformed into a real-life competition series on Netflix. Contestants will navigate challenges – both physical and mental – while trying to solve a mystery alongside iconic characters like Colonel Mustard, Miss Scarlett, and Professor Plum.

This isn’t the first time the board game has been turned into a movie. Back in 1985, John Landis wrote and directed ‘Clue,’ featuring Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, Madeline Kahn, and Eileen Brennan. While it only earned $14 million in theaters, it became more popular after it was released for home viewing. Interestingly, the movie had three different endings, and theaters showed different versions. The home video release included all three endings.
Many of us grew up playing Clue with family and friends, trying to solve the mystery, and it holds a special place in our memories,” said Jeff Gaspin, head of unscripted programming at Netflix. “We’re creating a new, exciting competition show that brings that classic game to life for a new generation.
We don’t have a release date for the Clue show yet, but stay tuned to TopMob for updates.
Originally created as Cluedo in the 1940s, Clue is now a classic and incredibly popular board game, selling over 150 million copies and inspiring many related games and products.
Several Clue video games have been made over the years. One popular version came out for PC in 1998, and a brand new game was released in 2023 for both consoles and computers.
