Netflix acquires global streaming licenses for “Anuja,” an Oscar-nominated live-action short film featuring prominent supporters like Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mindy Kaling, and Academy Award laureate Guneet Monga Kapoor.
Under the direction of Adam J. Graves and production by Suchitra Mattai, the film “Anuja” revolves around its 9-year-old namesake character who labors in a secluded garment factory alongside her elder sister Palak. The story unfolds as our young heroine grapples with a pivotal choice that could shape not only her destiny but also her family’s life.
This short film, co-created with Mira Nair’s Salaam Baalak Trust, stars Sajda Pathan, who is also a recipient of the organization’s aid, in a prominent role. The production crew includes Graves Films, Shine Global Inc (famous for their Oscar-winning films “War/Dance” and “Inocente”), Krushan Naik Films, and the Salaam Baalak Trust.
