Neil Patrick Harris, James Norton, Jessica Gunning Join Bella Ramsey in Coming-of-Age Comedy ‘Sunny Dancer’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Actors Neil Patrick Harris, James Norton, and Jessica Gunning – who have collectively won five Emmys, been nominated for a BAFTA, and recently claimed Golden Globe and Emmy awards – will be joining Bella Ramsey in the forthcoming film titled “Sunny Dancer.

Initially unveiled at Cannes 2024 by EbMaster, the highly anticipated project – the second film from up-and-coming British director George Jacques (“Black Dog”) – commences principal filming in April. This new phase also welcomes three fresh faces to join Louis Partridge and Ruby Stokes within the cast.

The embankment has already secured sales of the movie “Sunny Dancer” across all European and Latin American regions. True Brit Entertainment intends to release it widely in the U.K. for a world premiere in 2026. Ken Petrie, known for films like “Black Dog” and “Enemy Within”, is producing this film under his banner 27 Ten, along with Jacques from Athenaeum Productions.

Sunny Dancer” – A heartwarming, humorous tale of self-discovery

“Sunny Dancer”, described as a deeply personal, coming-of-age comedy romance, chronicles the story of Ivy (Ramsey), who reluctantly attends a summer camp for young individuals coping with cancer. Having fought and survived her own battle against the disease, Ivy views this ‘Chemo Camp’ as not only cringe-worthy but also an unappealing prospect – a definite “Hard Pass!”. However, what initially seemed like an unwelcome obligation, transforms into a series of life-changing experiences filled with love, genuine friendships, and uplifting humor.

Jacques is thrilled beyond belief to be working with such incredibly skilled individuals – true experts in their field – who are joining forces to make a film that’s both laugh-out-loud funny and emotionally powerful,” he said. “My goal is for the audience to laugh so hard they’ll cry, then truly cry, and leave feeling refreshed about how youth, fighting for life, is often portrayed – not as victims, but as bold, complex, and vibrant individuals.

Embankment’s Hugo Grumbar remarked: “The lead actors, producers, and several presale distributors acknowledge George and Ken as some of the most innovative and rejuvenating British filmmakers – a talented duo who are young polymaths and well-attuned to the needs of audiences.

True Brit’s CEO, Zygi Kamasa, expressed his excitement: “I’m delighted that True Brit will share a stunning and inspiring tale featuring remarkable young British actors with audiences next year. ‘Sunny Dancer’ is the ninth film in our collection of independent British movies.”
