NASA slammed for responding to Kim Kardashian while ignoring 3I/ATLAS data requests

Okay, so this is kinda wild. Apparently, NASA’s getting heat right now. Lawmakers and scientists are really pushing them to share data on that interstellar object, 3I/ATLAS. It’s weird because they publicly responded to Kim Kardashian about it, but they’ve been totally quiet when Congress and actual researchers asked for info. People are starting to think it’s because the object might be… well, not from around here, and they’re keeping potential alien tech stuff under wraps. It’s a whole mess, and everyone wants to know what NASA’s hiding!

Okay, so I’ve been following this space rock called 3I/ATLAS, and it’s seriously weird. It’s only the third thing ever found that’s come from another star system and visited us! Ever since we spotted it, it’s been doing crazy stuff – like, it suddenly gets brighter for no reason, spins super fast, and this Harvard scientist, Avi Loeb, even thinks it might be glowing on its own. It’s a real head-scratcher, honestly.

According to Loeb, there’s a 40% possibility that the mysterious object isn’t a comet, but instead a piece of artificial technology. He even suggests it might have sent a signal to Earth in 1977.

The comet became even more puzzling after it came close to the Sun on October 29th. As it neared the Sun, it suddenly became much brighter and turned a striking blue color. Scientists also noticed it was accelerating faster than expected, suggesting something other than gravity was at play.

NASA urged to release 3I/ATLAS data as possible alien craft speeds up and turns blue

Even though people are increasingly curious about this object, NASA hasn’t shared any new photos or data. This lack of information frustrated many when the agency chose to publicly address a question about it from Kim Kardashian instead.

That’s a great question! NASA has observed this is the third comet to come from outside our solar system. Don’t worry, it’s not aliens and doesn’t pose any danger to Earth. The ‘3’ refers to it being the third interstellar comet discovered, ‘I’ stands for interstellar (meaning it comes from beyond our solar system), and it was discovered by the ATLAS program.

According to NASA, this is the third comet to visit our solar system from outside it. NASA’s acting chief, Sean Duffy, clarified on X (formerly Twitter) that there’s no evidence of aliens or any danger to Earth.

Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna also sent a letter to NASA, asking for information and encouraging the agency to focus its observation work.

“We would like to see images of 3IATLAS,” she captioned a photo of the letter shared on X.

In a letter to Duffy, Luna explained that gathering more information about the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS is crucial for learning about objects from outside our solar system. She asked NASA to point the Juno spacecraft, currently orbiting Jupiter, towards the comet to collect radio and visual data, which could provide details about its makeup and path that aren’t possible to obtain from Earth-based telescopes.

Avi Loeb, a Harvard professor, has criticized NASA for being slow to release information to the public, especially while allowing celebrities to speculate on the same topics.

Loeb expressed frustration to NewsNation that while NASA quickly responded to Kim Kardashian, they haven’t addressed his team’s inquiries. He believes this withholding of images and updates is hindering scientific advancement and suggested NASA might be using the current government shutdown as an excuse to delay releasing public information.

I was cracking up when I read that the astrophysicist actually said Kim Kardashian is welcome to join his team studying comet 3I/ATLAS! It was a funny little addition to his blog post.

Avi Loeb has criticized NASA for withholding high-resolution images of #3IATLAS. He pointed out the contrast between NASA chief Sean Duffy’s quick response to Kim Kardashian on social media and the agency’s failure to address formal data requests from scientists. Loeb suggests NASA is prioritizing…

Okay, so the official story is still that 3I/ATLAS is just a comet, but honestly, it’s starting to feel like they’re not telling us everything. It’s been changing colors, speeding up, and just… acting in ways scientists didn’t predict. More and more people are demanding real proof, not just comforting words, and I get it! It’s getting weirder and weirder, and we deserve to know what’s really going on.

Loeb and Luna have suggested that if the interstellar object 3I/ATLAS is actually an alien spacecraft, it might launch smaller probes while it’s too far away for us to observe.

With growing concerns about potential asteroid impacts, a United Nations-backed team dedicated to protecting Earth has begun closely monitoring the asteroid 3I/ATLAS. This effort aims to improve our ability to track objects moving quickly and erratically in deep space.
