A high school football coach is missing, and his disappearance comes at a surprising time – right in the middle of his team’s perfect season.
Virginia State Police began searching for Travis Lee Turner, 46, on November 22nd. Turner is the football coach at Union High School in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. His team is currently undefeated, has qualified for the regional playoffs, and is hoping to advance to the state playoffs.
On November 24th, the State Police sent out an alert to the entire state, four days after Turner was first reported missing during an investigation.
So, I was reading about this thing, and apparently the cops went to this guy Turner’s place on November 20th because someone filed a complaint. But get this – they weren’t going to arrest him. State police spokesperson Matthew Demlien said that by the time they were on their way, they found out Turner wasn’t even there anymore. Pretty weird, right?

A 46-year-old man is missing and has been added to Virginia’s missing persons database. He was last seen in Wise County and was wearing a gray sweatshirt, sweatpants, and glasses.
According to Demlien, Virginia State Police have been using various resources in hopes of finding Turner safe.
Search teams have used dogs and drones near the Appalachian Mountains, where Turner resides.
According to the New York Post, Leslie Turner, the wife of the missing man, initially shared a post about his disappearance on Facebook, but she later removed it.
She posted that Travis was missing as of 10:25 PM on Friday night, and that was all the information they had at the time. The post has since been deleted.
I’m such a big fan, and honestly, we all just really need him back with us. The outpouring of love and support everyone’s shown has been incredible – it truly means the world. We’re just keeping the faith and praying for his safe return home.
Wise County Public School Superintendent Mike Goforth said Turner is on administrative leave.
