‘Murder in a Small Town’ Renewed for Season 2 at Fox

“Murder in a Small Town” has been renewed for a second season at Fox.

The Canadian mystery drama is adapted from the Karl Alberg book series penned by L.R. Wright. In late 2023, Fox secured the American broadcasting rights for this show. In Canada, it’s aired on the Global Television Network since its debut in September 2024, and it also premiered on Fox and Global at the same time.

Brooke Bowman, executive vice president of drama programming & development for Fox Television Network, expressed enthusiasm about providing viewers another season of Karl Alberg’s exceptional crime-solving abilities in ‘Murder in a Small Town.’ She added that they have had a fantastic collaboration with Sepia and Future Shack, their talented cast and crew, and are eager to discover what will happen to the characters in the upcoming season.

The show centers around Karl Alberg (Rossif Sutherland), who relocates to a tranquil coastal town in search of peace after years of intense urban police work. However, he soon discovers that this peaceful haven conceals its fair share of mysteries. As a top-notch detective, he must leverage all his skills to unravel the murders that persistently appear on the shores of this seemingly perfect landscape.

For Season 1, Sutherland joins Kristin Kreuk, James Cromwell, Stana Katic, Mya Lowe, Savonna Spracklin, Aaron Douglas, and Fritzy-Klevans Destine. Ian Weir is the head writer and executive producer. Nick Orchard of Soap Box Productions, who initially optioned the Alberg books, serves as an executive producer alongside Morris Ruskin and Sharon Wisnia of Mojo Global Arts and Jon Cotton. The series is produced by Sepia Films in collaboration with Fox Entertainment and Future Shack Entertainment. Jeff Wachtel, CEO of Future Shack, expressed his enthusiasm about their ongoing partnership with Fox and Sepia, stating, “We are thrilled about our continued association with our fantastic partners at Fox and Sepia. Not only does a second season renewal serve as recognition of our creative and popular success, but it also underscores that Future Shack’s international model can generate high-quality and cost-effective series.
