The companies Player First Games and WB Games have declared that they will be ending MultiVersus on May 30th, and the upcoming Season 5 content update will mark the game’s final release. Following the shutdown of the servers, MultiVersus will also no longer be available for purchase from any digital marketplaces.
Starting from February 4, Season 5 introduces two new characters to the team: Aquaman from DC Comics and Lola Bunny from Looney Tunes. These newcomers can be obtained through gameplay – Aquaman will be available as a reward in the battle pass, while Lola Bunny can be unlocked by logging in daily.
The online features for Season 5 will be accessible until May 30th at 9 AM Pacific Time. Following this date, MultiVersus will offer an offline mode where you can play alone against AI opponents or with up to three other players locally. To enjoy this feature, make sure you download the latest update between February 4th and May 30th, 9 AM Pacific Time. After downloading, log in to create a local save file containing your unlocked and purchased content.
Effective from January 31st onwards, it will not be possible for players to buy Gleamium, the in-game currency of MultiVersus, using real-world money. Nevertheless, any remaining Gleamium or character tokens that players already possess can still be utilized.
MultiVersus initially entered open beta in 2022, but it was temporarily unavailable for play following a year. This isn’t the first instance where the game encountered an interruption. It returned fully launched in 2024 with fresh content. In essence, MultiVersus is similar to Super Smash Bros., being a multi-character brawler. Characters from diverse Warner Bros. properties, such as DC, Looney Tunes, and Cartoon Network, are included in the game.
