Muhammad Ali Amazon Series ‘The Greatest’ Casts Omari Hardwick, Dana Gourrier

Two additional main characters have been added to the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series, which follows the life story of Muhammad Ali.

I’ve discovered that Omari Hardwick and Dana Gourrier are set to star in “The Greatest,” an officially sanctioned series chronicling Muhammad Ali’s life. They join the already announced series lead, Jaalen Best, making this a truly remarkable cast!

In this production, Hardwick takes on the role of Cassius “Cash” Clay Sr., who is Ali’s father, and Gourrier plays Odessa “Bird” Clay, Ali’s mother.

This series delves deeply into the extraordinary life of Muhammad Ali, focusing not only on his legendary boxing triumphs and losses, but also on the lesser-known events that shaped him as a person. While his famous victories and setbacks are well known and will undoubtedly be highlighted in ‘The Greatest,’ the core narrative revolves around these behind-the-scenes moments that offer a more personal glimpse into who Ali was beyond the ring. The world recognizes an icon, but ‘The Greatest’ aims to portray a man, a husband, a father, a brother, and a son.

Hardwick gained significant fame for his lead role in the popular Starz series “Power.” Over its six-season run, he portrayed James “Ghost” St. Patrick on this premium cable network. In addition to television appearances, such as in “Pieces of Her,” he has also taken on roles in movies like “The Mother,” “Fantasy Football,” and the recent release “Army of the Dead.

He is repped by UTA.

Recently, Gourrier has appeared in television series such as “Interview with the Vampire,” “P-Valley,” “Evil,” and “Found.” In cinema, she has been featured in movies like “The Butler,” “The Hateful Eight,” “Django Unchained,” and “The United States vs. Billie Holiday.”

She is represented by Paradigm and Principal Entertainment LA.

Ben Watkins is set to take up roles as both executive producer and showrunner for “The Greatest.” Under his Blue Monday label, Watkins will serve as an executive producer. Michael B. Jordan, through Outlier Society, will also executive produce. The president of Outlier Society, Elizabeth Raposo, will do the same. Lonnie Ali, widow of the late legend, and Corey Salter, Marc Rosen, and Matthew Gross from Authentic Brand Group will also be executive producers for the series. In addition, Roc Nation, Michele Anthony, Boyd Muir, David Blackman (co-executive producer), and Josh Wakely via Grace: A Storytelling Company will serve as executive producers. Stefano Agosto, executive vice president of television at Outlier Society, will supervise the project on behalf of the company.
