As a lifelong Disney enthusiast and avid gamer with an uncanny ability to mimic Billy Eichner’s voice, I find myself utterly enamored by the prospect of a Timon and Pumbaa spinoff. Having grown up watching the original animated series, these two hilarious characters have always held a special place in my heart.

Currently showing in theaters is “The Lion King” featuring Mufasa. You may be pondering about what’s coming next? While nothing is definitive yet, voice actor Billy Eichner proposes an intriguing concept for a Timon and Pumbaa spinoff, potentially starring Seth Rogen as well.

This fresh film functions as both a follow-up and an origin story for the 2019 version of The Lion King, which was in fact a modern retelling (as indicated by quotation marks) of Disney’s beloved animated original. In this case, live animals were not used but instead, photorealistic animation was employed to create the visuals.

In Mufasa, we catch up with Nala (Beyonce), Simba (Donald Glover), and their daughter Kiara (Blue Ivy Carter) in the present. Running alongside this story is the origin of Mufasa and Taka’s journey to becoming the villainous Scar.

Eichner’s Timon and Rogen’s Pumbaa offer numerous amusing sidelines, suggesting that they may make further appearances in future stories.

Mufasa: The Lion King star shares Timon and Pumbaa spinoff idea

As I prepared for the upcoming Mufasa: The Lion King premiere, I had the pleasure of chatting with Eichner about his brainwave for a future Timon and Pumbaa film. His ingenious concept? A hilarious buddy road trip adventure!

When questioned regarding a possible spinoff, Eichner responded, “Many are inquiring about it. Seth and I are prepared to proceed. What’s needed is for more people to express interest in a Timon and Pumbaa film.

“I think it’s very, very important that we all talk about that constantly,” he jokingly added.

Regarding where he’d prefer the movie to head, he mentioned that “A prequel could be exciting, or perhaps we could explore their future events.

How about we plan a movie that feels like a road trip? It’d involve an exciting journey, encounters with unique individuals, and perhaps some nods to familiar faces. I’m envisioning something vibrant, humorous, and full of fun!

As a gaming enthusiast, let me tell you, “The Lion King is quite the rollercoaster ride of intensity and emotion – it’s truly captivating! Plus, there’s potential to delve deeper into the bond between Timon and Pumbaa, those hilarious duo pals. But what’s really got my chuckle on is the idea of incorporating some fast-paced, laugh-out-loud moments!

Instead of joking, Eichner quipped, “Perhaps there will be fresh tunes from Lin-Manuel [Miranda, the composer of Mufasa: The Lion King] seeing as he didn’t pen one for this film, an omission that Seth and I are quite upset over.
