Get ready to rev up! We’re diving into the world of Magic: The Gathering with Aetherdrift, a new expansion that promises to take your Trading Card Game experience to the next level. Here are all the details you need – from its release date, product information, and more.

Recently, Magic: The Gathering has introduced some quite imaginative sets. For instance, Bloomburrow is filled with charming anthropomorphic animal characters, while Duskmourn: House of Horror takes inspiration from 1980s slasher movies.

As a passionate fan, I can’t contain my excitement about the TCG’s 2025 release schedule that promises more engaging and thematic sets, starting with MTG Aetherdrift! Imagine a race filled with mischievous Goblins, undead Zombies, and stealthy Insects all competing – it’s like Wacky Races but in a magical world. That’s the kind of action-packed adventure we’re in for with MTG Aetherdrift!

Below we’ve gathered all the info you need to know to tune up for MTG Aetherdrift properly.

MTG Aetherdrift release date

On February 14, 2025, you’ll be able to move your position to the starting point of MTG Aetherdrift. After the release of Innistrad Remastered in January, Aetherdrift will be the first set of the year that is legal for Standard play.

If you’re planning to embrace digital gaming, Aetherspark will debut on MTG Arena on February 11, 2025. For those who can’t wait, there will be pre-release events taking place from February 7 through February 13, 2025 as well.

MTG Aetherdrift theme & mechanics

In simpler terms, the game MTG Aetherdrift focuses on the character Chandra Nalaar, a legendary Planeswalker, as she competes in the Ghirapur Grand Prix. This multi-dimensional race across planes transports participants through the realms of Amonkhet, Avishkar, and Muraganda.

Contestants emerge from every corner of the Omenpaths, all vying for the prestigious Aetherspark. This revered relic is said to bestow upon its possessor the powers of a planeswalker, and participants in the Grand Prix will go to great lengths to secure it for themselves.

Although Wizards of the Coast hasn’t fully disclosed all details about MTG Aetherdrift, they have shared some aspects of the set’s gameplay. Given its racing theme, Aetherdrift is expected to place significant emphasis on Artifacts, particularly the vehicles that competitors use in the races.

A limited number of cards unveiled thus far display multiple interactions with Artifacts and the comeback of the Crew system. This collection can be played in a draft format, and as expected, common limited strategies will appear throughout the conventional two-color pairs.

Teams comprising Goblins, Insects, Zombies, and a variety of other beings are something you might encounter.

MTG Aetherdrift products

2025’s debut, Aetherdrift, is packed with all the expected perks, including a variety of high-end bundles to kickstart your collection. I’ve rounded up the standout items from this set so you can strategize for the Ghirapur Grand Prix well in advance.

Play & Collector Boosters

Similar to many recent Magic: The Gathering sets, Aetherdrift offers both Play and Collector Boosters. You can obtain these by buying individual packs or in Booster boxes. However, it’s important to mention that the Play Booster boxes for Aetherdrift have reduced their contents from 36 to 30 packs.

To find the scarcely available Series of Aetherspark cards, it would be beneficial for you to zero in on the Collector Boosters as they are likely to contain these hard-to-find items.

MTG Aetherdrift Bundle

As a passionate gamer, diving into the Aetherdrift Bundle is an absolute game-changer for those aiming to up their collection game. This package offers nine Play Boosters, a variety of 40 Basic Lands with unique treatments, some thematic goodies that tie the set together, and a sturdy box to keep it all organized.

As an added bonus you get an exclusive foil promo card which you can flex with in your deck.

MTG Aetherdrift Finish Line Bundle

If the Aetherdrift Bundle seemed attractive, but you prefer items with a gleaming finish, then the Finish Line Bundle is perfect for you. It includes six Play Boosters, two Collector Boosters, twenty Foil Land cards, three unique Extended Art cards, a special Spindown Life Counter, and a foil box to store everything neatly.

The Collector Boosters are richly stocked with foil and special artwork cards, and they offer a higher probability of obtaining the Signed Aetherspark card.

MTG Aetherdrift Commander Decks

In addition to the release of MTG Aetherspark, there are also two pre-built Commander Decks available for fans who enjoy multiplayer gameplay. Each deck comes with a complete 100-card Commander setup, two foil Commander cards for different play experiences, ten double-sided tokens, and a Life Counter.

The Commander Deck titled “Living Energy” is primarily composed of cards from the colors Red, Green, and Blue, led by Saheeli. Its strategy revolves around enhancing your Artifact cards, granting them consciousness, and utilizing them offensively against your adversaries.

The Eternal Might Commander Deck adopts a more restrained strategy, primarily due to its color combination of White, Blue, and Black. Instead of launching attacks, you’ll be using your own deck to summon an enormous horde of Mummies, many of which hail from the plane of Amonkhet.

At present, that’s all we have regarding Magic: The Gathering’s forthcoming Aetherdrift collection. As Wizards of the Coast discloses pre-release details, we’ll be sure to expand on this article.

In the meantime, why not check out everything in-store for Magic: The Gathering in 2025?
