MS Flight Sim’s Stranger Things Collab Has Landed

As the popular Netflix series Stranger Things nears its end after nearly ten years, its influence is spreading in unexpected ways. Today, a collaboration with Microsoft Flight Simulator 24 launched on Steam, cloud gaming platforms, Xbox, and PlayStation 5, despite some initial hesitation about including the PS5. This isn’t just a cosmetic update; it’s a full crossover event where players can even assist Hawkins residents and work with the character Murray Bauman (played by Brett Gelman) to escape the dangers of the Upside Down.

Netflix’s Stranger Things is coming to PlayStation, letting you step into the town of Hawkins, which is under lockdown and facing eerie, supernatural dangers. Even after you finish the main story, you can freely explore a detailed map of the town, featuring over 40 recognizable locations from the show.

Players can now fly the iconic Bell UH-1H “Huey” helicopter, famous for its service in the Vietnam War where it was used to transport troops and supplies, perform medical rescues, and support aerial attacks. Today, these helicopters often assist with disaster relief, research, and search-and-rescue missions. The expansion is available at no cost, but you’ll need to update to the latest version of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and download it from the in-game Marketplace.

Stranger Things has had a busy year with partnerships beyond Fortnite. Last month, new characters from the show appeared in Fortnite, and previously, Stranger Things has teamed up with brands like Mattel and Dungeons & Dragons.

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things began streaming on November 26th with a first set of episodes. More episodes will be released on December 25th, and the season will conclude with a two-hour finale on December 31st.
