MrBeast wants YouTubers to be more “tight knit” like Twitch streamers

Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast on YouTube, thinks YouTube and Twitch operate very differently. He feels it’s much harder for YouTubers to work together because they seem to have different priorities and approaches to collaboration.

Content creators frequently get ideas by looking at what’s popular on other platforms. For example, YouTubers and Kick streamers have often suggested features from Twitch, TikTok creators often shorten YouTube videos for their content, and Kick streamers are hoping for their own awards show similar to Twitch’s streamer awards.

I’ve been seeing a lot of comments from fans wanting YouTubers to team up more, and honestly, I agree! MrBeast has been really leading the way with that – he’s always bringing in some of the biggest creators for his videos, which is awesome to watch.

He hopes other creators will join him in building a more connected community, similar to how Twitch fosters collaboration and promotes the platform as a whole. He believes this will help everyone work together and feel more connected.

MrBeast wants a more “tight knit” YouTube

He wondered on X (formerly Twitter) how YouTube could build a stronger sense of community like Twitch, where streamers frequently collaborate and even host events like award shows.

“Feels like YouTubers are on seperate planets.”

YouTube could benefit from building a stronger sense of community, similar to what Twitch has. Twitch streamers frequently collaborate and even host events like award shows, while YouTubers often seem to operate independently of each other.

Many fans and fellow creators suggested doing more collaborative videos. One person pointed out the success of this approach in the UK YouTube community, where creators frequently work together.

Someone commented that they miss the earlier days of creators like Casey Neistat, when appearances in each other’s videos felt natural and spontaneous. They feel that now, collaborations often seem like business deals rather than genuine friendships and hangouts between favorite creators.

“Honestly, YouTube creators need more shared spaces and events to connect IRL,” said another.

Some people feel YouTube is too disconnected compared to platforms like Twitch and Kick. As one person put it, it’s not that YouTubers are completely separate, but rather their online communities don’t really connect with each other. Twitch encourages interaction, while YouTube tends to spread things out.
