MrBeast responded to complaints from some One Piece fans who felt he was only getting into the anime because it’s currently popular.
Okay, so the whole drama started when MrBeast changed his profile pic on X to Luffy from One Piece. It blew up instantly! Before that, he actually asked his followers if he should finally start watching One Piece, but he said he was a little intimidated by how many episodes there are – like, a lot of episodes! It just kind of spiraled from there, honestly.
MrBeast announced he’s become a fan of the anime series after seeing support from fans and creators like iShowSpeed, even changing his profile picture to show it. While many welcomed his support, some criticized him for only getting involved now that the anime has become widely popular.

So, people were asking if I’d actually watched One Piece, and honestly, there was some pretty harsh stuff coming from certain fans. I just wanted to address it and call out that toxic behavior – it wasn’t cool.
He complained that some One Piece fans are really negative. He jokingly claimed to be a long-time anime enthusiast, saying he’s watched more anime than many others and has been discussing it online for years.

He then doubled down on his anime credentials, adding, “I’ve watched all 700 episodes of Naruto.”
After airing for over twenty years and reaching more than 1,000 episodes, One Piece has frequently sparked discussions about who qualifies as a ‘true’ fan and what it takes to ‘earn’ that title.
The second season of the live-action One Piece series on Netflix is predicted to attract many new viewers when it premieres on March 2, 2026.
