I’m really excited for David Corenswet’s upcoming movie, and it feels like it’s going to need all the strength it can get to succeed at the box office! It’s been announced that Jonathan Levine’s ‘Mr. Irrelevant‘ will be released on December 25, 2026, which is a super competitive time for movies. Thankfully, having the new Superman himself starring in it feels like perfect timing – it’s going to be a tough launch, but I have faith it will soar!
In 2025, Corenswet’s Superman movie had a tight race with Marvel’s introduction of The Fantastic Four. However, his next film faces an even tougher challenge this December, opening just a week after three major releases: Avengers: Doomsday, Dune: Part III, and a new horror film by Robert Eggers called Werewulf. Despite this crowded release schedule, Paramount Pictures seems confident in the movie’s potential, but it remains to be seen if it can overcome the odds and become a surprise winter hit.
The film “Mr. Irrelevant” stars David Corenswet as Jon Tuggle, a baseball player who holds the unique distinction of being the last player selected in the 1983 NFL draft by the New York Giants. Tragically, Tuggle’s career lasted only one season before he passed away from cancer in 1986. Despite his brief time in professional football, his story of perseverance and spirit will be portrayed by Corenswet, alongside Michael Shannon (known from “Man of Steel”) and Isabel May.

Early reviews of ‘Mr. Irrelevant’ have been surprisingly positive, prompting the studio to position it as an alternative to the typical big-budget blockbusters. With actor David Corenswet gaining recognition from his role in the DC Universe, the film has the potential to become a quiet success when it’s released on December 25, 2026.
