As a seasoned esports enthusiast who’s been around the block a few times, let me tell you, that MOUZ vs The MongolZ match was nothing short of exhilarating! I’ve seen my fair share of intense gaming moments, but this one took the cake. The crowd’s energy was palpable, and the back-and-forth action had me on the edge of my seat.
12th of December found me squaring off against the enthusiastic hometown heroes, The MongolZ, at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in China. It was an electrifying best-of-three Quarterfinals match in the Perfect World Shanghai Major that left us both battling it out fiercely.
In the initial playoff encounter, MongolZ squared off against MOUZ, igniting the spectators with their electrifying presence. Let me walk you through the unfolding events!
The MongolZ vs. MOUZ Match Report
Initially, the MongolZ team chose Ancient as their starting point on the map. Their squad kicked off superbly, leading 9-3 over the T side during the initial half, demonstrating a strong performance. This advantage was partly attributed to remarkable individual performances, such as Ayush “mzinho” Batbold’s incredible and devastating 3K in round 7.
In the second half, MOUZ fiercely countered, gradually narrowing the lead that The MongolZ had established earlier. They methodically disrupted The MongolZ’s economy during their CT rounds and managed to win multiple consecutive rounds, even though The Mongolian side held a match point for an extended period.
MOUZ refused to surrender, and their IGL (In-Game Leader) Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek scored a three-kill in the 24th round, triggering overtime, resulting in an impressive comeback.
Initially, The MongolZ had the advantage during overtime, but MOUZ battled back, resulting in a 14-14 tie. In the 30th round on Ancient, MOUZ pulled off a remarkable comeback, winning 16-14 against The MongolZ and taking the first match of the series, leaving the crowd in awe.
On Nuke’s map selection, The MongolZ started powerfully with a 6-0 lead in the CT phase, leaving MOUZ without a point initially. However, MOUZ managed to mount a comeback on their attacking (T-) side, winning three consecutive rounds before The MongolZ could respond.
In the closing moments of the first half of the Nuke match, it stood at 7-5 in favor of The MongolZ. Since this map tends to favor the CT side, a slim advantage was given to MOUZ.
Initially on the CT side of Nuke, MOUZ made a powerful debut, capturing the Pistol Round and tying the game at 7-7. They continued their dominance, claiming a few more rounds, taking their total to 9 rounds. However, The MongolZ managed to secure one round, making the score 9-8 in favor of MOUZ.
Regardless of the crowd roaring loudly and The MongolZ giving their all, MOUZ ended up winning the series 2-0, with scores of 13-9 on Nuke in game one and 13-9 again in game two.
With their victory, MOUZ knocked out The MongolZ from the competition. They’ll battle either Team Spirit or Team Liquid on Saturday, 14 December 2024, in the opening Semifinals bout of the Perfect World Shanghai Major, standing only one win short of the Grand Final.
