Mountain Dew is changing its name to “American Dew” for a limited time. This is part of a new campaign that honors the drink’s history and an upcoming achievement in the United States.
On April 20th, the soda brand launched a new campaign called “An American Original – Tasting Great Since ’48.” The campaign celebrates the drink’s long history, starting in Tennessee in 1948, and its beginnings in the Appalachian region. It aims to remind people that this soda has become a well-known American favorite.
Okay, so Mountain Dew is doing something kinda cool! They’re temporarily changing the name on some of their cans and bottles to “American Dew.” You’ll start seeing these on shelves around April 20th, and they’ll be around all summer. It’s a limited-time thing, so if you’re a collector like me, you’ll probably want to grab a few when you see them!
The limited-time packaging change is part of a larger celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. It’s designed to honor the brand’s history and this important national moment.
American Dew launch includes nationwide giveaway and new ad
To celebrate the new look, a national contest is underway with thousands of $250 cash prizes up for grabs. You can enter online at the official campaign website now through July 11th. The prize money honors the company’s 250th anniversary.
According to Michael Smith, the Vice President of Marketing for Mountain Dew at PepsiCo, the new campaign honors the brand’s past while also appealing to its current fans.
Mountain Dew has always been known for its distinctive, strong flavor, originating in Tennessee back in 1948. ‘American Dew’ is our way of honoring those early roots and celebrating the fans who have supported the brand for almost 80 years. It’s a special release designed to commemorate this milestone and the story of Mountain Dew.
This announcement follows the company’s recent release of Dirty Mountain Dew, a flavor created to capitalize on the popular trend of unique sodas.
